The game's gone now, so none of it's important, I realise. However there's another little issue that's bugging me relating to the ref Roman Poite. In the game, much was made out of Hartley and Haskell asking what the laws said, and the comic reply being given "I'm a referee not a coach". Oh how we all laughed! However I have now read that when OShea discussed the tactic with Poite on Friday, he explained to them in detail a law change that had occured that week, which meant they could not touch the scrum half (their original plan). As a result they changed the plan to blocking the passing lanes. Seems to me he was happy to provide information and advice to Italy, but not to England. Anyway, that's off my chest now. Get ready for Scotland. I hope it's not going to be another David Sole moment. Rog David Soul? I think he wrote it with Rugby in mind Don't give up on us, baby Don't make the wrong seem right The future isn't just one night It's written in the moonlight Painted on the stars We can't change ours Don't give up on us, baby We're still worth one more try I know we put a last one by Just for a rainy evening When maybe stars are few Don't give up on us, I know We can still come through I really lost my head last night You've got a right to start believin' There's still a little love left, even so Don't give up on us, baby Lord knows we've come this far Can't we stay the way we are? The angel and the dreamer Who sometimes plays a fool Don't give up on us, I know We can still come through It's written in the moonlight Painted on the stars We can't change ours Don't give up on us, baby We're still worth one more try I know we put a last one by Just for a rainy evening When maybe stars are few Don't give up on us, I know We can still come through Don't give up on us, baby Don't give up on us, baby

All this carping here and on other forums about Italys tactics and we won with the bonus point. I hate to think what it would have been like if we had lost. The Spanish Inquisition would have been a passing breeze by comparison.

Sorry, but I enjoy the game, and I enjoy rabbiting about it. I can't play it anymore. Feel free to ignore me.

ETA Gazza you have me worried that you just happen to know the words.......karaoke queen?
David Sole and his gallant band left an indelible mark on me after the 1990 grand slam decider at Murrayfield.

Looks a strong team, with a terrific bench.
Scotland will be dangerous in broken play, a bit like the French of old. But I think, well I hope......let's not kid ourselves, I pray we'll be strong enough to win.
Now the Ireland game........

Great game, Wales v Ireland. Right down to the last ten minutes to decide it. Ireland had their chance, and I'm sure they would have gone over, but for a 'pretty boy' jumping in with the men and giving away a stupid penalty. Lots of beer, loads of action. Bring on the Calcutta Cup game Rog

A great game last night. It seemed to me that Ireland sought to give the Welsh a proper early battering but only battered themselves. I think they'd have done better if they'd played a less physical game. Hats off to both teams for the spirit in which the game was played -scrums not collapsing etc. There were very few penalties considering the pace of the game.
