Wotcha Steve Welcome to Thunderboat (Belatedly coz I've been out all day buggering about on a boat !!!) At least you are keeping your priorities straight! Last minute offer of a day out fishing ...... left at 4 am. Sea like a mirror and just a trace of fog. Few miles out to sea in the Thames estuary. Fishing crap we must have landed at least 100 whiting between us but not one big enough to keep. The estuary is absolutely alive with seals, the first spot we tried (Blacktail Spit) we had about 8 seals around us often surfacing only a few yards from the boat ....... the biggest fish we saw all day, by far was in the mouth of one of the buggers. We moved a few miles further out to sea, it was the same (but fewer seals but still some) we then headed towards the Kent coast to try our luck there ...... no seals ....... but no fish either ...... I reckon there was no fish and no seals because the buggers had eaten them all

I reckon there was no fish and no seals because the buggers had eaten them all That's why they call it "fishing" instead of "catching". (Just in case it's not obvious, I'm working on my post count. I decided that today's the day I'll surpass the 1,000 mark.)

Well at least the seals had a lovely meal Of pumpkin tart and jellied eel, But when the rats began to squeal, The bells rang out their mournful peal. Hark! They cried, what's in the sky - Be it eagle, crow or magpie? And as the clouds gathered in black, Ricco gets Number 196 in the sack!

On balance Paul, I think I would rather have the seals than the Great White

On balance Paul, I think I would rather have the seals than the Great White I'd imagine the seal feels pretty much the same way!
