It is always good to listen to all sides before making your mind up ...... I used to watch Al Jazeera when they had an English channel on freeview as well as RTE .
As long as you remember that everybody is lying through their teeth

The media is used to often by the wrong people they just fall into the groundbreaking story without checking the facts. It started back in the 50s when the Vietcong used the press against the French foreign legion and hasnt stopped since.

I think you will find that it goes back a lot further than that Peter, lookup first world war propaganda, and if you search harder it keeps on going back ........

If you don't think we're being fed a line, just go back and count how many times the press have reported hospitals being bombed out. The number is so high that Aleppo must have started with more hospitals than the entire NHS...

It was actually Hamish McTartanhaggis of Sutherland who built ' Hadrian's Wall ' to keep the Romans from stealing their fried Mars Bar recipe.

The term "yellow journalism" (aka lying propaganda) comes from the 1890's when Hearst and Pulitzer started the Spanish - American War. Some people might even go back further to when Benjamin Franklin was publishing all those pesky things about King George III.

The one I was thinking of was when the german legions of the french foreign legion were winning the war so they massacred one of their own villages then left legion equipment around after informing the press of the dastardly deed. Should google it but cant be bothered did it in Army in the contemporary world

What gets me is that in Aleppo, they are Rebels fighting against the Syrian 'regime', but in Mosul, they are terrorists fighting against the Iraqi govt, yet both are ISIL/ISIS. Sure Russia and Syria are bombing Aleppo and causing civilian casualties, but then the US/UK/Iragi forces are doing the exact same thing in Mosul, but nothing get reported... Smacks of double standards.. Nothing is shown on the BBC about the liberated civilians in Aleppo showing their gratitude towards the Syrian army..

I suspect the news (and the Government position for that matter) is trying to portray the "truth as we would wish it to be" rather than how events are actually playing out...

And now apparently, hundreds of men have dissapeared whilst being evacuated from eastern Alepo ( according to 'activists' on the ground )
