Congratulations are due to Russia, it seems. Pick a side, stick with it, job done. 'The West' on the other hand don't know which side to pick, different factions within different bits of 'the West' have different views. Eventually a side is picked, almost randomly it seems. It might be the right side or the wrong side but when some women or children are inevitably killed the whole thing is called off.
'Teamwork', 'better together' or other such modern day clichés are fine and good in some circumstances but at other times it delays decision making, the eventual decision ending up as a massive fudge.
And so we have it.

Syria used to be one of the breadbaskets of the arab world now farming has been destroyed there why cant the west keeps its noses out of things that shouldnt concern it
