I phoned up the mate yesterday to check how he was doing,OK he replied apart from the fact I've had a letter for
not moving far enough and the EO is coming to see me at 1.30 on the boat.
I agreed to try and get up there for the meeting as I was worried about the implications for myself as we had spent
several months moving in Unison and if there was an issue with his movement then what about my own?
Anyhow the EO rolled up as arranged and my Friend pointed out he had been as far South as bridge 110 and was already at
Cosgrove heading North which was around 7 miles short of the recommendation of 20 miles and he wasn't even halfway through
his License yet.The EO agreed as the sightings matched what he was being told by my Friend.
When asked what the issue was, the EO said everything was ok and he was one of the most travelled boaters on his patch apart
from a period of a few weeks during the Winter Mooring Period where he had shuffled about in Milton Keynes.
My friend pointed out to the EO that they had already sorted it out when it occurred, what do you mean said the EO?
Well said my friend,I had the cylinder head off the Lister and had to be central for the Engineer to deal with it and you
told me at the time I would have to buy a winter mooring, don't you remember?I refused to buy one,my boat was fixed and I
resumed my Cruising Pattern.Oh yeah says the EO,I remember you.
How far North are you going? Blisworth Tunnel replies my Friend,Great Stuff says the EO,make sure you get logged with a checker
and you will have a 12 month license next year.Given all the fear and upset of a letter dropping through the letterbox when you have
done nothing wrong, you just have to shake your head and smile politely.
