You and a team can pull a 70 foot long, hand-built, wooden narrowboat on the Chesterfield Canal and help raise cash for the vessel's upkeep and the charity of your choice.
The Friends of Dawn Rose – the name of the narrowboat being pulled – are organising the pull all the way from Shireoaks to West Stockwith and back.

It's near enough, but the day (4.6.16) is a Wednesday. I'll be at work, unless I take a day off. Worth thinking about having a day off, I could do with a break; if break is what you could call hauling. I'm tempted.

It's near enough, but the day (4.6.16) is a Wednesday. I'll be at work, unless I take a day off. Worth thinking about having a day off, I could do with a break; if break is what you could call hauling. I'm tempted. We will be out the country - but it seems like a good original way to raise a bit of money. |

To be frank, I could do with a day out. Getting hot under the collar over the marina 'thing' shouldn't detract from my liking for the canal and the boats. Besides, I've got my boat safety on the 10th, and it would take my mind off that. OOps, I've checked the date again, 4.6.16, it's a Saturday. There's my wishing (excuse) for a day off work stuffed. I'll have a clear day to go.

I think this tiff is a result of the CWDF section, if there wasnt a sort of simmering resentment towards CWDF mayeb MJG wouldnt have taken the comment by cds in such a manner.It could have been seen as a bit of a laugh or banter (much as I hate the word) but because of the atmosphere generated by the CWDF section is it possible it had no chance of being taken as such?
I could be wrong it wouldnt be the first time.

As far the last bit - yes envy is a terrible thing but as a tax payer (which I presume you are) I must thank you for keeping me in the life to which I have become accustomed.
