If you were on the arm still that's the Old Towcester road flats (lock 17 Before you get on the Nene.) If you were on the river there are flats by South Bridge/embankment/Morrison's Beckett's park, the Marina and midsummer meadow are very near the Hospital off Bedford Road. Noisy place full of sick people..... I'm born and bred Northampton,it used to be an ace little county town - bit of a shit hole with an average rugby team now. On the arm we couldnt go through I seem to remember some problem with the lock waited a few days but they couldnt fix it. Left the boat there and went to my daughters graduation. My sister lived there for a while. Left because if the noisy poles and their Eastern euro trance wound up to 11. I take it your daughter graduated from Northampton Uni? My Mrs did and had her passing out parade at Derngate theatre. Two good pubs near by - the Malt Shovel Tavern and The King Billy, lot of misspent youth gone by in there! I used to be lucky enough to work at Carlsberg when town was a nice place to be.

Yes remember Carlsberg big place across the street Ah right, gotcha. you had to leave the bright lights of Northampton for the even brighter lights of Durham The much maligned Mouth of Hell bus station is no more, the idiots demolished it and replaced it with a useless small effort on the old fishmarket. We now have a great wasteland that is waiting for shops no one needs or wants to be built. A couple of bright sparks have mentioned it would be a good site for a bus station....

Heh - just looking at the title it says "Should I go to the Great Ouse by gazza 9 hours ago"
I can imagine seeing him at the tent entrance adding "I may be some time..." and wandering off into the mists of Darkest Fenland.
9 hours, and he's not back yet?

I'll post our progress and see who's around. The reason for going there is to party in Houghton for a while, with old RAF friends.

You'll be lucky to come back alive from the Great Ouse.

Try it for a year. We'll see by May 2017 how things went on here. There do seem to be more members pouring in. And there are many sensible and intelligent threads and comments here; it's already becoming the place to go for modern and up-to-date information.

It'll take a while before all the MtB-bashing and stone-throwing into CWDF abates. Then it should become quite normal and a lot of fun.
