I'll be at the Watford match this afternoon. Graham Taylor did us proud.
I was playing 5 a side footy at an indoor sports centre near Stanmore many years ago. I heard someone shout at me above the balcony to chase the ball. I looked up and saw it was Graham Taylor! Lol. He'd brought the squad over for some training.
...another nice guy gone maybe before his time.

I never met him, but like Sir Bobby Robson, he seemed a genuinely good bloke and a gentle man.
Despite all the soccer ball nonsense, I cannot recall anyone ever saying bad things about him.
Seems awfully young too.

Apart from the sun you mean. After losing to the Dutch didn't he become the turnip.
The horrible man who fouled platt in the box. Not get sent off and then go score at the other end, Was appointed our manager a year or so ago. Thank God he fucked off to Everton.
To be honest I have got over it and he was good for us but he did kind of end Taylor's England reign.
He was a good man and he is fondly remembered for telling of a fan next to the dug out who was racially abusing, was it John barnes?

The 'Turnip' business was the soccer nonsense I was refering to.
I've never understood why, in soccer the press attack the only guy who doesn't appear on the pitch, rather than the men actually out there who could make a difference.
Anyway the newspaper stuff said more about the 'journos' than Mr Taylor in my view.

Well, it was quite an emotional day but fair play to the hardened supporters who put on a good show for GT's memory. A nice touch was the family asking for a minutes applause instead of a minutes silence...and I'd put my phone on silent!
Unfortunately the match was pretty crap. Both teams didn't inspire really as the 0-0 score line showed.
