If Thunderboat is going to be a success, it is going to have to live or die on its own merit. Criticizing and lampooning what happens on CWDF is certainly going to happen here, and sometimes it's quite fun. However, but stuff like the "MTB is a Prick" thread are totally unnecessary, and truly do more to demean this site than to enhance it. "Criticizing the competition" is a very poor sales tactic. Certainly it would much better to say something along the lines of "CWDF is good, but Thunderboat is better!" than to make chicken jokes befitting an adolescent or to criticize someone for their stature.
I don't know MtB other than through infrequent on-line interaction. He's never been overly friendly, but he's never been rude. I certainly have no complaints about him.
It seems like most the people here at Thunderboat have a "live and let live" attitude, even though one of the reasons we are all here is so that we can freely disagree with each other. The "MtB is a Prick" thread, and some of the posts on it, are really beneath the people here. You're better than that! We're better than that! And where does it end? I don't think anyone here would like to have themselves put under a microscope and dissected by the other members.
Then again there's the fact that public internet attacks against individuals are apparently frowned on by your legal system, so why put Delta9 in a legally precarious position? I realize Emma is only here to wind people up, but we don't have to fall for it. If this site is going to remain uncensored, then we are going to have to self-moderate by ignoring threads like that and just letting them die without comment.
That's my opinion anyway. I just don't see any benefit at all to that kind of nonsense and I think it is detrimental to this site as a whole.

I think its all been said before and the thread is becoming extinct in any case so why inflame
it further by posting this under an inflammatory for some heading.

I read your original post here, before you edited it, and I'd swear I was reading something LC or WF would have written. Apparently you realized what you wrote wasn't good, because you changed it. However, it's really your thinking that has to change. This is a forum, for people to converse. Some topics you will like, some you will not. It's not up to you to determine the content of this forum. There is no "us vs. them" as in Thunderboat vs. CWDF. This site will succeed or fail on its own merit, as will CWDF. There is no need for hostility or animosity towards CWDF. Maybe you have a different index than I do. I haven't found here an index page that has all new topics like CWDF has. I have to go from one sub-forum to another to see what is new. When I go to the CWDF sub=forum, "MTB is a prick" was the second thread down, same as it's always been, and it has almost 2,000 hits. Anyway, please, take the mod hat off and quit trying to censor threads on the forum, okay? |

I thought the MTB being a prick thread was a bit OTT. Not even really funny. I don't know MtB from Adam, but he doesn't offend me on CWDF. Nor does anyone else, except one or two of the moderators. Well, two.

As this site is still relatively new, perhaps it would not be a bad thing for Delta to use his discretion and have a sudden and once-off clearing out of the worst threads. I don't think anyone here would really object to that. Such as the MtB thread - just make it disappear. Time for us to stand up, shake off the biscuit crumbs, and stride forwards towards greater postings. I could think of 445 I would clear right away! |

I came onto this forum because, like others, am fed up with the over-moderation on CWDF. I agree with all that you have written here. However, I do not agree with your title nor do I agree with the title of the other thread. The guy is just too far up his own arse that's all. |
