Or hatch Plan B and away in the other boat, perhaps along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to keep us company? But then that seems to have run out of water also!

I had to look up that Hitachi digger you pictured earlier as I thought it was a photoshop picture.
Its an ultra-large excavator with a ~2000hp V16 diesel engine. What a beast.
there is a small excavator near Johnv's boat but its half buried due to someone doing something slightly silly with it.

Could you have a word with London VTS and ask them to close the Thames barrier for a bit that might do it

Could you have a word with London VTS and ask them to close the Thames barrier for a bit that might do it If they would close the Benfleet flood barrier it would give another couple of inches ..... they might possibly close for tomorrow's tide (if they want the overtime)

When was your boat last floating free and out on the sea / on the Thames? Could a group of men jumping in the mud with spades and buckets and a conveyor belt system help? Would the sludge just keep falling in from the sides? Is there equipment with a pipe that could suck the mud away, like with those vehicles that empty drains?
Otherwise I'd start planning an adventure with Shapfell, bearing in mind that when there's high water someone would need to be on Sabina to see if she can get out. How urgent is the blacking?

Ross the back up plan is to put Shapfell back in the water if I can't get out. Where I go and for how long has not been thought about yet ...... possibly up the Thames
The blacking is needed but not desperate ......... after this month there is no real chance of getting out until the winter

Realistically, tomorrow and Monday are it for this year. In the autumn/winter there is much higher chance of a depression causing bigger tides than forecast, so even if there is nothing obvious in the tables, there could well be opportunities I would then have to find somewhere to hang around for a few months ...... I don't fancy taking the old girl out in winter weather ...... I always said that if no one is paying me, I am going to be the original fairweather sailor and stay tied up near a pub until the conditions are perfect So getting out this time of year was favourite

Its all a bit of a bugger John! The other year when we were on the Trent it was a huge tide I caught some crap in the prop and side swiped the railway bridge at Gainsborough! It knocked Jayne out of bed and put a good ding in the boat, scared me as you have no control over the situation

I think he'll get her out tomorrow morning on the high tide. I've got a good feeling about it.

My sister-in-law sent me a pic of the dumper truck she was driving on a gold mine in Australia. It looked pretty normal. Then she sent one of her standing next to it, she had to reach up past the tyre to get a hand on the bottom of the wheel rim. Previous driving experience - a moggy minor. HGV test - drive round the block in the local fire engine, if you don't hit anything you pass.
