I can tolerate most music if performed live ... I have even heard rappers on the street who's performance has been admirable for it's skill if not its melodic qualities. That said ... I do struggle with bagpipes Rog

That said ... I do struggle with bagpipes Rog I actually quite like bagpipes ...... but to be honest I should have said which bagpipes I have a fondness for the Northumbrian small pipes something ...... different then of course, for something really weird ...... Cornish twin pipes

I cannot post music links but last night went to see Les Miserables...absolutely brilliant ..love Song of Angry men and the little prayer and and..well most of it. Didn't follow the story line, declined daughters offer to explain..who wants a story to get in the way of good music. Women next to me arrived half way through first half then spent the rest of the show checking her phone every couple of minutes..my daughter 'understood' as it was a new mums first outing my harrumphs deemed 'age related old fogeyitis'.....

I found this last week... worth a try? I rather like the pace and banjo twang:

Here's another one for a Sunday morning, could fit well with some countryside landscapes/canal scenes, bit of Boxing Day frost and smoke rising from the villages:

I don't have a music system in any of the boats but the car one is a high quality Harmon Kardon (sp) unit.
Either radio 3 or Klaus Nomi CD. Nothing else ever gets played.
I believe that the only thing which separates humans from animals is the voice. As far as I'm concerned any man who can do this is a genius:

I don't like to see this thread falling to the bottom of the page so here we go... I must say I prefer the period when Lemmy was still the frontman. Lemmy is the only former member of Hawkwind who was sacked because the rest of the band thought he was taking too many drugs, which at the very least deserves an honourable mention. The girl dancing on stage was better known for appearing naked except for head-to-toe blue paint.

I think it was more a lifestyle choice for Lemmy.

Lemmy was a good frontman in that he had presence but he was a bass guitarist and a very average one at that and he had nowhere near the musical ability of Huw Lloyd-Langton. Lemmy was more a force of nature than a musician. In one interview he related how he hit the high notes on 'Silver Machine' on the second attempt, where the preferred vocalist had failed to do so at all. And I agree with Lollygagger, the actual performances were more in the way of physical exercise than anything else. However I recall an acoustic version of 'Ace of Spades' on a six-string that was awesome. Technical excellence is not always needed - the Sex Pistols did well enough. Rush was the first band I ever really followed, and I always thought one of the defining factors of their success was the precision of all the band members (it sure wasn't Geddy Lee's good looks). But Rush were not the most popular rock band of all time, were they?
