Is it significant that the celebs who are most fondly remembered are often the tragic victims of one vice or another? The list of stars who died of an overdose is a long one. Is there a connection between mental illness and talent?
To argue about which band or artist is best is as absurdly pointless as arguing about which football club is better. Being an old git though, I have to say that most of what passes as pop music these days is just noise. What a cliche. Oh no.

You're probably just getting the equivalent of TOTP or radio one in the old days. There are galaxies of really good new music out there with loads of bands playing real instruments and putting some soul into it. Even radio 6 has turned into some crap version of radio one, I don't know why they can't keep their fingers out of something that worked.

I'm afraid to say I also like Final Countdown by Europe.
Horribly naff but there is a bit of a personal story behind it which "works".
I will play the opening sequence on a public piano if a public piano is available.
This song (giggle)

Saw Bellowhead at the Leadmill, Sheffield ... superb live band.
Amazing the variety of what is simply called 'music'.

Variety is the word
Problem with all these generics is they all seem to be trying to be Slayer.
That ^ is quality.

I suppose Danzig comes under punk in a funny indirect way as he is formerly part of the Misfits.
I quite like some of his songs actually.
A bit over theatrical in the video but fairly original music.

It's tough to beat early Roxy Music. I wish I'd seen them but I was too young. What a great live band. Such a breadth of stuff and so lively compared to the mystical navel gazing guitar noodling types of the time.
