I don't have the facility to "reproduce" music to a high standard on the boat. my car has a Harmon Kardon system (Saab) which is pretty wicked with 6,or 8,speakers and tuned to radio 3 for the "cool, calm and collected - drive like a grandad" effect and it works. Thinking about it that's probably the highest quality music system I have ever been exposed to in my life. I quite like it. It makes me drive so calmly when in the previous car (much faster car to be fair) I was a shocking boy racer specially at traffic lights. Must get one for the boat ! There is nothing wrong with that. I am no audio snob and rely on 70's/80's separates, a Beresford DAC, KEF speakers and Shure SRH headphones. Your car system is far superior....

This is the kind of stuff I listen to. This seems unlikely, though I am prepared to accept your word as a gentleman. As a musician I cant help feeling your taking the piss though. Are you familiar with the works of Andy Bole?

Are you familiar with the works of Andy Bole? Never heard of him. Is that you? Anyway, yes it's absolutely what I listen to as a musician. I grew up on classical music, prog rock and metal. The genre is Djent if you want to look it up. I listen to most genres really but having played in club/pub covers bands since I was 15, I get a bit bored with middle of the road stuff. This stuff is like a firework display, you never know what to expect.

That Stranglers' version of Walk on By is diabolical rubbish. " "Walk On By" is a song composed by Burt Bacharach, with lyrics by Hal David. The song was originally recorded in 1964 by Dionne Warwick " Sometimes 'tributes' or copy-cat versions can be better than the original. I heard a great rendition of Alison Krauss's 'Gravity' at a bluegrass jam session - when I bought the CD and listened to the original it was a letdown. I generally despise 'new' songs that have been snatched from the originals and 'tarted up'. Or turned into a foreign language using words that have nothing to do with the original meaning. Thieves and lacklustre swindlers. This could be worth a browse? (edit: perhaps not as it wanders off subject almost immediately). Here's Dionne: This I know Ross, I like (but not necessarily prefer) the Stranglers version. Burt is a genius, but since reading his Autobiography he has fallen in my estimation. Anyone who has as much to say about the egg-white omelette as Burt does merits instant inclusion in my 'Crashing Bore' column.

Radio 1 last shone, however briefly, some 25 odd years ago when they engaged zeitgeist defining club DJ's on Friday (?) nights.
