You have sent me on a voyage into the past. www.meadspeed.com/searchI had a bit of kit off Barry in the 90's again he wasn't far away at all in Newport Pagnel - that was for my road registered Spondon framed TZ that had an RD400DX motor in it - dunno who did the engine work on that but it was epic! That made way for an RD250C motor as I was too skint to rebuild the 400, which eventually ended up in an 250 LC that comprehensively shit itself - all of it seemed like a good idea as a teenager! I'm stunned that a pro am fairing and belly pan will set you back Β£225, I sold a mint set for peanuts about 15 years ago Do I know you? I ask myself that question now and again... Um, not sure, I've never road raced, I was seldom let out of Northants or Bedfordshire, except for an annual pilgrimage to the IOM. Stopped playing with the road bikes in the mid 2000's. Dirt bike racing concluded at the end of the 2009 season.

Well I've succumbed to the adage 'The older you get, the faster you were' and gone and put my entry in for The Powys MWTRA enduro in August! Ive entered the 'super veteran' class π Being just over 50, with my pal competing in the over 40's Vet class so should be a good laugh avoiding the young speed demons in the championship classes. The good thing is, this enduro is only Β 1 Β single lap π Unfortunately the lap is 150 miles longπ Don't know WTF I'm thinking really as it's over 15 years since I last rode an enduro bike in anger , it's been supermoto for me since then but sure it'll adapt & try and survive. Been forced and goaded as a geriactric old man into it by my younger riding buddy, The things you do to pretend you're Β still youngπ I'm gonna prep my bike this weekend and try and get a couple of hours in over the next month or so, although my 2 week trip in July to the Montgomery / Chirk on the boat ain't gonna help. I'll chuck a few pics up as it goes, if anyone's interested. What could possibly go wrong?ππ Good man! I don't half miss it The Powys was always a good tough event - there will be some quick old fuckers too Have fun ππ Bikes Nearly ready for next weekend few more jobs, new chain , number it up etc.. I'm nowhere near ready and sure I'll collapse like the sack of shit I am after the first stage!!π³

Well tru to form I collapsed broken mentally & physically after about 60 miles π Jeez that's the hardest biking thing I've done in 35 years, the course with bogs, wet slate climbs, tight woodland sections with loads of roots to take your wheels! Binned it many times which is what killed me, it's not coming off it's picking it up again and getting going that does you in, too heavy and too powerful for that track the Aprilia , that's gonna be put back to supermoto spec.π I'm gonna find a beta or gas gas 250 2 smoke for next year!! Hopefully complete it on that!
Knackered and sore but pretty pleased in bed nowπ

Hopefully complete it on that! Knackered and sore but pretty pleased in bed nowπ It happens, I got a rude awakening at my first Eppynt in 2003 Derek Edmonson said to me in 2005 if we were all honest with ourselves we'd all be on KTM 200s. From sportsman to experts with old gits in between. Fast, light, excellent chassis, strong flexible motor, good brakes. Simple and well put together. I loved mine, both as a competitor and Marshall, although, the two drawbacks it had for marshalling was limited tank range and an awful seat. You don't notice either when you are on it 100%. Vic and the boys seldom put an easy event on, have a think about the Welsh for next year, two excellent days ππ»

Well tru to form I collapsed broken mentally & physically after about 60 miles π Vic and the boys seldom put an easy event on, have a think about the Welsh for next year, two excellent days ππ» Bit of a vid on YouTube from someone showing a couple of places on the route, best start from about 4 mins in as it's just chatter before. None of those shown were as bad as the bogs about 4 miles in where the wind farms are...acres of long grass with gawd awful deep, soggy, sticky bogshit everywhere, I was stuck upto my rear mudguard at one section, managed pull the front out with a pal then physically dragged bike on its side clear, had to then manually scoop all the shite from round my back wheel as it just stalled bike it was that encrusted!! Bloody 'orrible stuf!ππ feeling ok today, joints a bit sore from constant falls but feeling fit, here's to next year!π
