It seems odd that with the terrorism threat level being quite high lately nobody appears to be considering this as having been deliberate. Is there any particular reason why a terrorist might not do this kind of thing?

I must admit I did get the sneaking suspicion that behind all of this, there may have been a disgruntled resident trying to prove a point about previously voiced fire safety risks. I'm nearly 60 and I've never ever heard of a domestic refrigerator catching fire.

I agree with you. If a riot happens it will not be because of the local residents in Kensington. None of the problems are to do with immigration. I'll take issue with that When there is vastly over subscribed demand for limited resources simultaneous with high levels of immigration then of course it is a problem. Ignoring that fact is what has got us into the mess we are in I could have worded it better but in my belief the issues in this case have nothing to do with the current immigration discussion, they were there 20 + years ago. There will be no riots caused by the locals caught up in this, anger yes but no riots.

And beer ! Anyway nobody has claimed responsibility but it does seem awfully easy to set fire to a tower block which has already been pointed out as a major fire risk. Its nasty to think that an irritated resident could do this but it seems quite possible to me Mr Conspiracy that someone could do this deliberately as an attack. Yes I know most victims are probably blah blah blah and no-one has claimed responsibility so its probably not that. I hate shitty accidents. They are usually avoidable.

Is there any particular reason why a terrorist might not do this kind of thing? The senior police officer I heard speaking today stated there was no evidence that it had been started deliberately.

Its good they can be so certain about that. I'm sure they are right.

Fridges and freezers are known to be involved in fires., as are dish washers, dryers.

Not like the crazy heyday riot years of the late 70's & early 80's!!

That is "police-speak" for saying that they suspect it was started deliberately. I'll have a bet with you, a tenner from the loser to the winner's choice of charity, when the dust settles the verdict will be arson. Deal or no deal?

As for riots I suppose maybe if there was an firearm confrontation of some sort and armed police were called and shot someone... that'd do it !

Why would you want to place a bet on such a thing? It makes no odds to me if the police are right or wrong, I hope they are correct though.

I bet there quite a lot of influential people in this story who would very much like this to have been arson.
