We may be passing through on Sunday but not stopping, well except for the locks.

I'll be moving one of my boats over the weekend according to Canaplanac "This is a trip of 78 miles, 1 furlong and 44 locks from Limehouse Basin Entrance to Henley River and Rowing Museum. This will take 36 hours and 37 minutes which is 5 days, 1 hour and 37 minutes at 7 hours per day." (Via Regents canal not central London tideway) I'm looking to do it in 2.5 days So nowhere near Braunston.

Don't really need to go, all the historic boats are coming past my mooring today.

Its putting in the hours which does the job for example 5am to 10pm with one or two brief stops for provisioning.

We happened to be there in 2013, so visited with some friends.
I have to say the live music in the beer tent was terrific. We had a great night, as far as I recall.

Why no tideway? For me doing that journey its a no brainer to go via the tideway 3hrs v 12hrs using the canal. Should make it easily doable in two days

Why no tideway? For me doing that journey its a no brainer to go via the tideway 3hrs v 12hrs using the canal. Should make it easily doable in two days I'm in no particular hurry as I have 3 days if I need them and I actually really like doing Grand Union locks - its one of the best things about boating in my opinion. I do go via the tideway when I move my barge but this is my smaller boat and while it is happy on the tideway I did lose items from the roof last time due to heavy wash near Belfast. The chined hull makes it roll rather severely out there !! I've done the tideway about a dozen times so it isn't a novelty. If it was today I probably would go via tideway as it is too hot but forecast is cooler for Friday which is when I will be travelling on the Regents and winding all the lovely locks. The exit from Limehouse is about 1030 on Friday which would make for a rough trip through the pool. 0530 is my favourite time for that trip. My anxiety problems can make it a very stressful trip, sadly.
