I am still not sure what the NBTA stand for, the socialist worker, momentum, stop the war, no cuts, and others that appeared at the MK demonstration didnt endear me to them, i would of hoped they were politically neutral, but it didn't look like it. When you get the left of politics involved you know somewhere someone wants something for nothing.

I seem to be the last person on here to know who they are - just had a look, and here's their link if anyone else is interested: www.bargee-traveller.org.uk/ Do they not have their own discussion forum? My attention was brought to them because someone mentioned alan_fincher and I found this comment of his: (bassplayer: Are you going to MK on the 10th to have a chat with a few from the NBTA and find out more?) a_f: "No, I am fed up with the leadership of the NBTA continually stating stuff that is patently untrue in support of their campaigns. I prefer to fight using the truth rather than fabrication. If you make stuff up to support a case, you fall into the same trap as CRT recently did with the latest moorings consultation - it was sticking scrupulously to facts the defeated that, and certainly not not NBTA rhetoric, or petitions full of half truths. I have actively challenged remarks made by Panda Smith and by Marcus Trower, and received replies from NBTA members like " We don't let the truth stand in the way of a good headline" - hardly likely to win me over! I know people I respect who have a lot of belief in the NBTA, and I have no doubt there are good people in it, but until they are prepared to stick to the truth in in their arguments, I feel quite unable to support them." This looks interesting: hub.sportsnrec.org/hub/waterways?list&page=3 Depends whether you believe everything Alan Fincher says, or not. Since he had a pop at a lockie on a public forum last year, I'm not a great follower I'm afraid.

They are the only boaters organisation, opposing Crt's changes to T&C's. They offer free advice to any one who needs it. They are mainly based in the south although we did organise a meeting in Leeds last year. They have a couple of Facebook groups, but no discussion forum.

They, we, are pissing in the wind really, until CRT is made accountable for its actions they won't give a toss what anyone thinks. They hold all the cards, you commit a criminal offence if you break a bylaw, and they do not .

Flincher is full of shit. Anything he trots out needs to be accompanied by a very large dose of gripe water.
