Buckby flight, lock number 8, one of the top gates has come adrift. Nasty stoppage with crick coming up!

In the olde canal carrying days the local maintainance team would have this gate back in hours rather than days or weeks, replacing a pair of new gates was done over a weekend. I realise that those days are gone, but it is still an interesting fact.

That lock did exactly the same to me last year. Though the balance beam stayed attached, and I managed to get the gate back into the cup. I reported it at the time, and was told it would be sorted during winter maintenance. I should have asked which winter.

It does look quite serious with the balance beam having come unattached.

Looking at the angle of the gate in the water, I would imagine it will need to be moved to allow the boats out of the lock, looks a bit tight

This has got to be repaired quick - I mean, there's a lot of money at stake at The Crick Boat Show.

Certainly hope it is - for all those stuck there at the very least.......

Keep up the good work, Trina - somebody has to do it...............
boatman - think I might be heading towards your home territory - could be needing advice soon about moorings etc - may I please impose on your local knowledge?
Sorry - can't provide bacon butties - but home made bread and alcohol in abundance.
