It's been over a year since this forum kicked off and I can't remember one 'dogshit' rant ( apart from those aimed at Martin the Gobshite!) so I thought I'd start one!
WTF is wrong with people that allow their dogs to shit and just leave it for folks to walk in/ slip on/ kids get it on their fingers etc?
i love dogs and have had 4 of my own but wouldn't dream of leaving their mess !
Why are said owners so lazy / irresponsible?
Your dogshit on the path thoughts appreciated!

Right with you with dog shit on walkways.
But if it's amongst the grass and nettles, woods etc. I'd prefer it was just left rather than encased in plastic so that it can no longer degrade.
Good choice of rant too.

I have 3 big dogs, sometimes that can be 9-12 bags in the morning, I pick up. Leaving on the towpath seems particularly disqusting, like letting them shit in someone else's front garden

Dogs don't leave shit on the towpath. You are imagining it. I know this because every single dog owner swears that they always pick up their dog's shit. They typically tell me this whilst their dogs are running around and pumping out a sneaky one whilst their owners are distracted by chit chat.
Chit chat the dog's shat.

Good choice of rant too. Rog It all stems from 12 years ago when I had my widebeam.... I was was coming into Moor single handidly at a particularly nice spot, I jumped off with my centre rope in hand and promptly slipped over on this big pile of shite, that must of been laid by a tranasaurus Rex or similar sized beast, the boat, cruising along in neutral at about .5 mph, dragged me through said dogshit so every item of clothes/shoes I had on were covered! Great memories see!! The amount of times I untie and my hands stink of dogpiss I've lost count! Pisses me off no end!

I have noticed that dogs seem incapable of passing mooring lines without cocking their leg. And owners seem happy to let them do it. Rog PS Your post made us howl with laughter, sorry

I was camping once and the bloke opposite let his dog wander over and cock his leg on my awning pole. It was only hen I told him I might have a piss up his tent later that he volunteered to wash the awning pole. Some people are ignorant selfish twats.

It's not just a tow path thing, it's everywhere. Last week in Gap France we saw a lady on her phone seemingly oblivious to the fact her dog was circling and clearly about to 'curl one out'. Sure enough it did. Jan politely approached the lady with a doggy bag and pointed to the resulting mess. Lady took bag and promptly marched off still on her phone. You will never educate some people

Superb ranting material, commendable. 'Pavement Dogshit' is virtually extinct these days. A welcome development, tangibly and visually improving the streets, driven and policed by the public for the public. When I was a boy the streets were shit-strewn, you had to watch your footing at all times and cries of 'whos stepped in it!' were a daily occurrence. It is simply not acceptable anymore to not clean up after your dog, all dog owners know this and would rather the ground swallowed them up than be caught without a shit-bag. I know Basically if your pooch lays a cable anywhere likely to be stepped on by others, encountered by small children at play or gardeners going about their business you should bag it regardless. If you are truly off the beaten track give yourself the day off and let it be.

There will always be the irresponsible who won't clean up..I always wonder what about the folks in mobility scooters of the partially sighted with guide dogs...are they legitimately exempt from clearing up? Hate the dog pooh bag tree effect that seems to be prevalent in some areas..There are still some streets that have dog sh... pavements..where one walks with care...there are areas in Swansea and London where Ive seen this. Hate those who think cos bag biodegradable its ok to bag it and chuck it in a hedge bottom..... Hate the bins in parks that have been torched by vandals...whats that all about Hate the over flowing bins in parks which r never emptied... Hate the bins that get emptied by squirrels and sea gulls and said bags left strewn Bag It Bin It ...Get Rid....anywhere that people and kids walk should be kept clear of the disgustin mess
