Ok ahead of myself maybe but i have a good deal on a Senior 32 project shell Trouble is it is on the IOW and i am up Manchester. How the hell can i get it up here, no rush as it can be kept where it is for now as standing fee`s are cheap. I would be happy to keep it there until the cruiser is done then if possible use it to drag the Senior up here. Now i see the canals are narrow in the midlands so to get to the north will be hard as the boat is 9`9" beam. Or am i wrong there ? What other water ways are there i could use ? Wagon could be used but i prefer the adventure doing it myself if possible and saving funds.

Wide waterways are Boston onwards. Just as well, the GU mainline would be an utter nightmare - particularly with alot of the Muppets that use it these days

The stopper for wide boats is the Leicester arm of the GU, Watford locks are narrow preventing wide Boats from the south and north from the Soar getting through.
Birmingham is a non starter as there is too much narrow stuff to have made a viable wide north south link.

Had a thought to get it to Bristol then i drag it to Northampton and get a wagon to move it to Market Harborough then i drag it the rest of the way. Still getting it to Bristol. if you need any help down south, especially the iow. I am in Southampton. saying that there are a few of us here, I believe and at least one member on the island. Thanks for the offer of help, only problem at the minute is getting to Boston or Market Harborough. Going to be to expensive this i reckon I need to stop looking for the next project dont i lol

Stick it on a wagon.
If you cost it all out it, even your time is free it must be the best option for loads of reasons.

To move it by wagon i could buy a better one up here nearer home. Well over a grand to move it to Market Harborough and thats only half way. I would of just enjoyed the adventure to tow it up myself, cost and time it would take me is part of the fun.

if you can get it across the solent on a calm day when it's flat as a pancake. it will save a fortune vs the red funnel.
although it will have to go on a trailer at some point to get to a waterway and around the thin bit.

On that basis it's hard to fault, but you still have to get it to the mainland. Sounds like a lot of fun if well planned. Allow three times as long in practise as your best calculations show achievable on paper. Ensure you have enough fall-backs, fail-safes and contingency plans in place that regardless of where the shit goes down you're not left high and dry and without a plan. Discreetly carry meaningful quantities of cash money or at least raise your daily cashpoint limit to a level that might possibly entice short-notice emergency assistance from boatyards/hauliers/wotnot first thing on a Sunday morning and know where they are and how to find them. Ideally make sure that if at any point, for whatever reason it becomes a chore you've got the dough to get it craned out and transported. If you've priced it at +-2k door to door transported it would be reassuring to have a similar sum identified in the budget as a last resort and see how much you can undercut the best transport quote received by. Properly planned and executed this could be a lot of fun. If you get any further than the notional mid-way point of Market Harborough without any unforeseen spend you are a £1000 up on paper and could justifiably eat lobster and drink fine Brandy for the remainder of the trip. OR; call it a day honourably, cut the risk and protect your gains, crane it out and reassign the Transport budget underspend in favour of the Materials budget in a forlorn effort to bridge its ever-widening funding gap. OR; go all-in, balls-to-the-wall, shit or bust, death or glory.... Double up and complete the mission in full, Two 'Large' up and walking tall.

Quick update I got a price for wagon delivery to leicester at £875, not bad to be honest. Still sod it, i am up for the adventure but this will cut into the Cruiser funds from as soon a si buy it. I need a trailer yet and they dont come cheap, not going to make one now either. Loads to look at in Yorkshire i bet and prob get one for a few hundred quid with standing/mooring unless i can find a mooring where i can moor the cruiser along side it. Thanks for the help guys, no more lookig at boats for me, well we will see
