maybe it's my ignorance, which wouldn't be a first but they are advertising 4.5 months so surely they are only charging for 4.5 months. or does it really cost 5 months. You 'enjoy' only paying for 4.5 months if you book from November until mid March. If you book a lesser period, incuding March, you have to pay for the whole of March, despite only being able to stay until the 16th. I get that. say Feb and march would be two months as they do not offer 1.5 months. personally I would start it mid Jan and have me two months

Bit of a rip off really. Wonder what they could do, if you booked and paid for say February and March, and didn't move off until the end of March, as you paid the rate for 2 full months.

But you would be able to stay for 14 days afterwards anyway under the 14 day bona fide navigation rules...
The winter mooring fulfils the place where boat can be reasonably kept...
Or something like that !!

Or something like that !! No, you can't. They clearly indicated their intentions of not allowing that once your wm ceases a couple of years ago. 2015 I think.

Just bought mine January to March. They only charged me half for March worked out 155 squids in total, not bad.

I know but what else can I do? I can't just leave it on the towpath without a permit for 2 months, a local marina would charge me 300+.

You do get a degree of security for the extra money.
A personal decision whether the potential security is worth it.
I say potential, because boats have occasionally been broken into in marinas. No guarantees.
