I have little time for these Diversity Targets,it simply results in people being employed for the wrong reasons.

This sounds like typical austerity double-talk. Right wing politicians cut off the funds to government agencies/departments and then, when they don't perform as well, jump up and down and carry on about how government doesn't work.
A fire fighter should be able to pick up a full grown adult and carry him/her from a burning building. Just that one criteria alone is going to limit the amount of "diversity" possible, particularly as it applies to gurlz. We had this debate some 20-30 years ago and it was decided then that females should have equal access to firefighter jobs, and they have had for decades. Despite that, you seldom see female firefighters, the strength needed is just too much for most females.

We are great on Diversity in the UK,every minority has rights,but seldom any responsibility.Women only shortlists for Parliamentary Seats is another one. I see Milton Keynes Police pictured in the local rag this week,wrapped in a Rainbow Flag talking about their commitment to LGBT rights,meanwhile our local park is invaded by people cruising for gay sex where before families and courting couples would picnic, the Police ? you never see them,its more important that they are seen to be "on message" |
