I like gigoguy's point about parking fines vs Bridgewater 'fines'. I think there is a distinct difference. parking law is enshrined in law. if you don't pay you receive a charge notice, if you don't pay that then a court order will be sent. the council don't actually go to court, it's just a paper exercise. Peel will actually have to go go court and win a case. which for forty quid is not worth it. but if someone built it up to 400 quid after ten visits. they may get tempted. Peel do court a lot over private parking tickets on their land.

I disagree.
What the hell has trees, car parks and bridge tolls got to do with anything?
Why do people always create arguments based on what they feel are similar examples, rather than the actual details.

Nigel seems to be making a good effort to get the topic back on track.
My view is that unless someone is prepared to 'go legal' to prove a PRN for visiting leisure boats then effort might be best aimed at getting a 'more agreeable' agreement.

I've finaly got to the end of that thread. blimey pages and pages of rubbish.
only a few people come out of it any credibility.
it really got very petty.
and apparently were the argumentative ones. seems when you write a post now it has to be a full on barrister approved court ready post.
over wise you will be told off. however if you have nothing to offer you can be as patronising as you like.
I can see some good points from both sides of the debate it certainly not a cut and dry thing. not sure it will ever be resolved one way or another.
it's like airport charges to stop on a road. they will never take one to court as they will lose. however it won't stop them asking people to pay. if they pay then great, if not. move onto the next one.
