Hello Thunderboat, We thought it was time we introduced ourselves. We have been boaters for 20 years, 13 on a Narrowboat in Thorne, South Yorkshire, and the last 7 on a widebeam in Goole. Our current boat is a 60 x 14 Edwardian style motor vessel designed for us by a Naval Architect. The shell was built at Stanilands Marina in Thorne, the steelwork being done by Bob French and Don Peel. We took the shell away and fitted it out ourselves. The engine is a Danny Williamson Gardner 120hp 6LW20, and fitted by myself. Primarily for big waterways we cannot use much of the UK canal system, but do venture inland to Leeds, Wakefield, York and Nottingham. Our airdraft is 3 metres with everything down.
I have recently retired from working on boats so now have more time to "fine tune" my own boat Cygnus, and maybe participate on these boaty forums a little more. Anyway I'm stopping now before you fall asleep.
Joe

If its your boat in your avatar I have one sentence to describe it.
What a superb boat that is.
Welcome to the forum.
French and Peel? I know they (F&P) made a few rather unusual boats narrow and wide. Good old fashioned British engineering mixed with a bit of eccentricity. I like this sort of thing.

Welcome to a really friendly forum. There are some nutters here, but they are mainly about as dangerous as your favourite weird auntie/uncle.😄.However...Mr Stabby is the exception.Ever since I saw his stabby picture,I've been having nightmares about knife wielding men with manic smiles. It has turned me to drink(again).😕

Other than that* I don't think he'd even swat a fly. *disclaimer - I have not met the bloke so I may be completely wrong !
