There are times in the past when I could have fancied an explosive wedge. I've been known to split large logs with 2 or 3 wedges. I had a conical one once but one day it jumped out of the crack in the log and leapt about 10ft in the air and didn't hit me in the face. So I stopped using it . These days I only tend to get pallets and occasional scaffolding sole board bonuses. Did get a large batch of sole boards today which was good but they do not require explosives just the bowsaw and axe.
I'm not a great fan of america in general but they do seem to know how to do a job properly in certain circumstances !
Its not only mass shootings they do properly.

I'd prefer a V8 powered splitter.

I'd prefer a V8 powered splitter. That works better than you imagine it should

I was waiting for him to stumble on it and get it jammed into his leg!... that's something a ginger would do...

Some sort of steering wheel mounted throttle on the car?

I think he converted it to "wheelchair" friendly - expecting to lose a leg during the splitting

A neighbour has just got one of these, frame and table need to be rebuilt but he has the engine and splitting screw. Looks like it could grab your trousers!

The log being split in the video, no knots etc, I could split with a splitting maul as quick. No noise and fumes. Well maybe grunts and sweat!

Having split half a dozen trees with a splitting axe, if they're fresh and green it's a doddle, but if you let them dry out it's no fun.

I believe this to be true, that for birch anyway, it's easier to split with an axe when fresh. When it's dry it's like trying to gnaw your way through a steak with false teeth. I want to find lots and lots of Autumn leaves to put on in our boat stove to make loads of smoke!

We have so much firewood we don't know what to do with it - and there's still the forest round the bus garage to be cut down! The boathouse I made for my boat (which I sold a year ago) is now the haunt of logs. Sounds like you too need a Pontiac GTO powered log splitter 👍
