Looking good Kris. I was hoping you'd start putting some pics up Are you going to get some support for those fuel lines? For the supply to the filter I'd bracket off that ledge at the stern where your spanners are. Could The feed to the engine go alongside the control cable?. Also, have you considered a twin head arrangement with water separator? I'll post a link to SSL website.

www.ssldieselparts.co.uk/aluminium-sedimenter-double-dfas1-p-722.htmlCheapest I could find. Fitted one to ours when I moved the tank, originally we only had a single filter after the lift pump and before the injector pump. I've put the twin just after the tank so it filters before the lift pump, the original is still in place and should hardly ever need changing now. A separator and two filters should do the job!

There's still finishing off to do, as I use a day tank I don't need a water separator the diesel isn't in the tank long enough. Theres a few things to do alternators, etc. but I'm happy with it.

Ah right, looks a nicer place to work than in our cramped cruiser engine hole! When your at your alternator have a crack at the battery sensing mod if you are using an A127 type. They are the best, most versatile and cheapest in my opinion. Brothers Kubota has a lovely little high power Hitachi that costs a fortune to replace. The A127 reg and brush pack can be had for a tenner off eBay.

Pix won't load on my mobile, but from Gazza's post I'm sure they look good and I bet you are gagging to get it fired up and trial it, if it was me I'd be hopping with excitement. Phil

I've not really thought about the alternators yet but I'll get onto it.

Phil I've already run it quite a few times, moved once and will be moving again in a while. But it's good yes, still got to mess with the tickover a bit. It's hunting at tickover with no load on. I had difficulty getting a spring for the throttle so it might not be the right strength. I'll try this before messing with fuel pump timing. Yes gazza it's much better than a narrowboats engine to work on. I'll post a picture of before at some stage for comparison.

Yes I'm happy John, it's taken me much longer than I thought but I think the results are worth it. Now to get the rest of the boat to the same standard.

We've a proper boat I'll have you know Still a twat to work on, even with all the deck boards up, the canopy is nice though as you don't get piss wet through like a narrow boat.

I'd still much rather have my engine room.

I'd still much rather have my engine room. Yes, I agree. Hint of jealousy here in Northants

I cheated and didn't attempt to restore the Glennifer but went for a new Daewoo (copy of an MAN) and nearly 20 years on I still haven't finished !!!!!

Looks good Kris good luck with finishing it off. I would still fit a separator in its surprising how much dirt settles out in my fuel guard [clear bowl so I can see it] Look forward to seeing you on the cut
