But Gazza they blob about the whole system like that - like they're Livingstone or the first person to find Londominium since Caesar and that possibly King Tim West and John Brand have been the first human beans ever to arrive on the cut since the cameras or even boats appeared. Perhaps we expect too much?

Perhaps we expect too much? Yes, you're right. Boldy going were loads of other dull blogging twats have been before I don't bother with em that's the answer! The one I am most aware of is NB no problem. They are the scourge of the fens. They pop up on the wife's Facebook via a closed group for Friends of the Nene and on the GOBA forum. The rest I avoid like the bloody plague.

Its the fact they all recommend each others Blogs that I find strange, they would really like to be on a yacht in the South of France but sadly for them and us their public sector pension won't stretch that far so they have to be content with an insulated ditch somewhere in the West Midlands. I met one of them on a brand new spanking wide beam one afternoon "Still Rocking" was the name, anyhow they must have only had it a day or two as they were carefully navigating in order to keep the paint pristine, the husband was standing on a big chair with the tiller in hand,he was a small bloke and the wife was hanging of the side checking the clearances as they slowly moved forward.I couldn't resist it so seeing he was stressed I shouted "what made an intelligent man like you buy a piece of shit like that"? he turned his face red with the blood pressure and shouted "Fuck off and mind your own business" this was followed by a crunch as the wide beam hit the side of a moored boat, from which the owner emerged shouting and swearing.I padlocked my door and disappeared through the hedge,as you do.

It's not just visitors blogging that do my head in, i gave up on Facebook 7 odd years ago, I do have a wee look now and again on my Mrs profile the Friends of The Nene group has a very keen poster that's recent to the river, her posting onto the group is bordering on spam, it's put me off looking so much. You can guarantee she will have something to say, even if it's bollox.

"Still Rocking" - Gawd, another awful name to make one cringe.
How about changing the Ro for a Fu? At night, of course.

Incoming Bloggers to Milton Keynes! Couldn't make it up myself! From the IWA newsletter:
Ambitious plans for a new waterway linking Bedford to Milton Keynes
A new 24km waterway park between the Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes and the River Great Ouse has edged a step closer to delivery as a new strategy for the project has been launched by a consortium known as The Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterway Consortium. It is suggested the new waterway will transform the region, bringing not only economic, environmental and social benefits, but also improved flood prevention and waterway management.
Providing a broad beam route across the country, a new brochure specially commissioned by the Consortium emphasises the positive impact on the area and shows how the project will boost tourism. The brochure and business plan were launched on Thursday 26th May at the B&MK Partnership Conference.
To take a look at the documents, go through to the Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterway Trust website.

We been reading about it for the last fifteen years, its still no further forward. The land meanwhile facing the canal at the proposed junction with the Grand Union has been sold for Executive Housing.Good old Britain, not Social Housing but Executive Housing. The day will surely come at the side of the Towpath where some prick with 2.5 BMW,s and a wife called Stephanie will knock on the boat in the depths of winter to complain about the smoke from my Boatmans Stove effecting his quality of life.

That GU to Great Ouse link can fuck off. It would mean we could get to London without an East coast expedition, but I have no desire to do either!
Last thing we need is an easy route for the arseholes to get into fenland. The Nene and the levels put folks off.
The one I want sorting is the old Bedford at Welches Dam and the Fen Waterways Link from Peterborough to Spalding and beyond.
As CDS points out the IWA and BW/C&RT waffle about it but there are some hugely expensive obstacles to overcome - one being the flight of locks at Marston Mortain
