The following is offered as friendly advice. Take it for what it's worth. I can't speak for Tony, but I've never seen him to be anti-CRT. I think you need to distinguish between not liking or not supporting an organization, and being thoroughly disgusted with that organization's management. If you intend to carry on with your crusade against CRT, you really should learn to always differentiate between those two positions. In the first instance, if you are anti-CRT, then you are either an anarchist who wants no governance of the canals, or you are someone who has not come to grips with the fact that if you replaced CRT, you would simply replace it with another CRT. It's not CRT that are inherently bad, it's the management of CRT that has gone astray. In fact, you should become CRT's biggest cheerleader, albeit with caveats that you cheer for CRT as it was meant to be, not as current management would have it be. See the difference? I think tadworth is just using "Crt" in his posts as a manner of speech, and I think your attempting to make a mountain of a molehill. I'm not making a mountain of anything. I offered the lad some advice on how he should present his argument. Some of you people are just way too caught up in your own egos to be objective about anything to do with CRT. Cast them as demons if you will, but it is not CRT that is the demon, it is the people running it. How you present that to people who don't agree with you is important. Even if you wanted to, you could never get rid of CRT. You do have a chance to get of the people at CRT that you think are ruining it for everyone, but the only way you are going to be able to do that is if you get the support of a whole lot of people that don't support you now. I understand that Tadworth was probably using CRT as a manner of speech, and that is what I am trying to get him to take notice of, and to change. Instead of saying "CRT", I think he should be saying "CRT management". Tadworth said he has been wronged by the people at CRT and he wants to try to change things there. If he has been wronged, then I support his efforts. I'm just trying to help him hone his message.

I don't see what Tadworth is doing as a crusade against Crt. He is someone one who has been wronged against by an organisation, who is fighting back defending what is his. In doing so he is defending the rights of all boaters weither they understand or appreciate this or not. Crt's action of threatening section 8 all the time is pushing people into corners. What they are beginning to realise is when faced with this situation, not everybody rolls over. I agree with you completely about what Tadworth is doing, and I applaud him for it. "Crusade" was probably a bad choice of words, but, in my defense, it was quite early here. The only other word I could think of at the time was "vendetta", and seemed a tad harsher. Even now the pages of my mental Thesaraus are stuck together and I can't think of an appropriate one-word descriptor of what he is doing. Looking at the reaction my original post has caused, I'm wondering if perhaps "crusade" has a more negative connotation there across the pond. Here, "crusade" is a rather benign word and can be either good or bad, depending on the use.

Your right Paul about choice of words, that was the problem I had initially with you, people forget about you speaking from the USA and the context and use of word is different over there.I think everyone here has no doubt that you applaud what Tony,Nigel and Onionbargee have achieved and even if you didn't, so what,it would keep us occupied for a few hours lambasting you if nothing else.

Whilst your in the states, and making judgemental statements, (from what little knowledge you glean on the internet) some of us are in the thick of it. Nothing to do with bloody ego's, more often than not it's people on the verge of losing the only roof over their head they can afford, and have nobody to turn to for help. Bloody cheek.

Bloody cheek. quod erat demonstrandum No wonder you can't get anything accomplished, you can't even get along with people who agree with you. Actually, that was the nice answer. Here's the real answer - you are a xenophobic twat with your head so far up your arse it's a wonder if you'll ever see daylight again. As it happens, one month ago I lost the last in a series of lawsuits that allowed my four evil sisters to take from me the home that I paid for and that I had lived in for 15 years. I am now basically homeless. I'm staying in a not-so-cheap motel and living out of a suitcase, my son is staying with a friend. I have been fighting this battle with my sisters for three years now, while simultaneously battling cancer and heart disease. So fuck you and that high horse you are on! I know much better than you exactly how those people you are saying face the loss of their homes feel. I tried to pass on a bit of political wisdom that I have gained over the years and you decide to come across like.......... Forget it, you aren't worth the effort. I need to remember one of my primary forum rules - "Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience."

Jesus, when did we become so thoughtless to others? Probably when the conservatives came in. The thing is, there are people on this board who help others who feel they have nowhere else to go. To have someone then state it's an ego trip is downright ignorant, especially when they don't even know the people they are accusing of being so. I feel sorry for the guy, and his troubles, because I see similar situations on a weekly basis with folks on boats, but there was no need for his judgemental post.

I think its just words, unfortunate phrasing and translation. We all feel strongly and are opinionated but in the final analysis we have more in common than what divides us. Jenlyn goes out of his way to take an interest in the well being of others and therefore feels strongly about that. PaulG2 has an interest in Social Equality and Justice amongst other things and freely offers support and advice based on his life experience,he would be the first to say you can take that advice or you can leave it.I myself am probably not the best of Brokers, but why don't we crack on mindful of each others contribution and attack the root cause of all our problems ,CRT and their managerial incompetence.

Whats happening with Onionbargee on the other channel, its like he has embarked on Guerrilla Warfare, I see Graham Davies commenting the last time I looked, polite and helpful as usual. Whats this "Tin Snail draggers" bollocks at the foot of his postings? I was tempted to ask if it had anything to do with sheep, and did DEFRA know about it,but its a lovely evening, why spoil it

I think the Welsh have a few tin mines and they dig it out at their usual snail-sonic pace whilst listening to Tom Jones bashing it out.

The Tadworth rides the cut once again, and I've had nothing but best wishes of everyone I've met on route so far. Good to get it back on the water.
Official complaint gone in. Wait out on that one.
Then to the ombudsman.
Then the question of compensation for unlawfully preventing me from obtaining a licence, I will sue them if I have to.
Peter Palmer should be sacked, he is unable to do his job honestly, without predudice, and within the relevant canal legislation. And the legal department needs an interveiw without coffee with the grown ups, and told to stop fucking about, and work within the law rather than making it up as they go.
