Welcome to the forum, Rob! If you hurry, you just might be able to get in on this beauty. LINK Whatever you do, though, don't waste the sellers time or all hell will rain down on you. When you get a chance, drop by the ThunderBar and buy everyone a round or three. LINK

My advice would be to take a HUGE loan from any bank of your choice and then say you're Greek and you're not going to repay a penny!
In a more serious vein, how about Ebay for boat? Do keep an eye on boats that never get bought and ask yourself why...
Make a list on paper of EVERYTHING that boating will involve - you don't need to worry about solar panels and Eberspachers and all the fancy gizmos at this stage, just a basic stove to keep you warm.
Perhaps some of the members on Thunderboat will invite you along to their boat for a trip, so you can begin to get to grips with what it's all about. It's best to get going and keep it all simple at first, and enjoy yourself, the detailed technical stuff will drop in by itself later. Don't worry about how to do knows correctly, for instance - just do what you feel is right.

PaulG2 - what? Link to 'Strange Dutch Barge'? First you have to find the 'strange East European seller'. If you pay 117,000 Pounds I think the lucky ones come away with a wash basin!
We're supposed to be helping Rob, not sending him to the bottom of the Grand Union in London all chopped up into little pieces and stuffed inside a suitcase!

I have been looking on Ebay & didnt notice that one, it sold anyway but have no idea what it went for. I have not been to any private boat sales as yet, just been looking around the marinas that hand the keys over and let you look around at your own pace.

Sounds good to me, could do with some free money I have been looking on Ebay as well as about 20 brokers. Noticed a few boats in the past few months that have not sold and are going down in price bit by bit. I just put it down to over priceing or a problem with the boat but am leaning more everyday. There is a lot to take in and keeping it simple is good advice as I have been looking into solar etc when I don't really need to at this stage, so thanks for that as I never thought about it untill now and really I don't need to be thinking about it
