I believe its possible to edit the listing text to add a number. Whether the format of that number is automatically identified as a telephone number and altered or excluded I'm not sure.
It'd be quite clever if they (eBay) could subtly alter the number to redirect to a premium rate sex chat line or something.
In my limited experience it is usually quite easy to phone an eBay seller if you want to.

I realise this is older and probably more of a project than your looking for. But it's intetesting to read the surveyors report and compare it to the one on ebay. m.apolloduck.com/boat.phtml?id=549081

I am looking to spend around £20,000. My house is sold and have the money waiting, it's not a big budget but it's what I have to spend. The main thing is the hull, engine and gear box has to all be good as the inside/outside I can work on. It has to be big enough to live on aswell. I have been looking now for a few months and have visited boat yards to look at what type I want to get a better idea, I prefer trad or semi trad and a multi fuel stove with a back boiler if poss. Solar would be nice but have priced all that up myself for a total system that I would install myself so it would just be a bonus if it was already done. I have a big wish list with a small budget as you can see, so any help would be good & thank you all for your reply's. Rob You should be able to find a good 1980's 40-45' boat for that type of money. So far I have found 4 boats that were fantastic all round & well under my budget, but at the time I didn't have the money so will keep looking. I go through all the websites once a day inc apollo duck, ebay, gumtree, preloved, friday ad plus all the various boat yards.

re kris post
I don't really understand this.
"The base and sides don't look as bad as I had expected them to be, but a survey would determine this"
And apparently was surveyed in December 2017. So what is this all about? Trying to catch people with a false survey but also suggesting they get it surveyed (to gain trust)
Seems a very similar MO to the previous eBay advert.
Why would you get a survey if there was a (trusted) survey from just a few weeks ago.
SCAM.

Needs mayjor work on the hull. If I were a welder I could do it myself but would have to be done by someone who knows what there doing. Plus the seller is a decent fella and is honest about it.

something will turn up, is it just for you? yes, it will just be me living on it, with my homebrew (can't forget that) i helped find a boat for a friend recently that was only 34" but it had more usable space than a lot of bigger boats that was £13000. So don't get frustrated something will turn up. Your looking at the right time of year.

I also wernt to Wilton marina, not to buy but to look around at what size I wanted, layout and stern type. As I thought it would be best to look around at the real thing insted of just pictures and at the end of the day private sellers don't need window shoppers like myself just looking around to get a grasp on what there looking to end up with.

Interesting I hadn't spotted that but a quick check confirms their messaging system indeed now picks up any attempt to send a phone number or email addy, so I wont be buying or selling anything high value on there again - their loss I guess. But surely one can still arrange a viewing via the ebay messaging system? Private phone numbers and email addresses are not required to do that. Agreed, something along the lines of my boats is in so and so yard/marina/bit of towpath by bridge number x, I will meet you there at x time on x day. Any problems let me know via eBay message. Easy peasy, although it could open the door for mistakes like this to happen.

Yes that is a good idea, although I always found Wilton boats depressing. Most of them felt like someone had died in them, they’d pulled the corpse out, dumped it over the side and put it straight on the market. In some of them, they hadn’t even done the washing up!

I went around Wilton whilst researching boats before I decided the route i would go down with regards what was right for me..it was a bit depressing as all the boats had a sad neglected air......I'm sure you will find the right boat but keep putting them up on here cos the 'collective' sweaty sweary bunch of ole codgers who frequent this place have decades if not more of experience and knowledge to share......they knows their stuff and us ladies of tb can tell u what looks good ........

Yes, you'd think they would offer a cleaning service, say £100 to get two people in for two hours, £30 each for them and £40 profit for Wilton, there must be people locally who'd appreciate the chance to earn a bit extra two or three mornings a week and it would make the boats infinitely more appealing to buyers.

Don't worry the collective here are very good at finding boats. In the next few days I guarantee you will be able to ponder over a few boats within your budget.
