(snip) This is where the story ends ...... for now !!! waiting for the insurance and for the replacement electric motor ........ If circumstances permit, when she restarts her travels I would like to be on her ....... I hate not completing a job !!! Interesting trip Is the motor a DC one? If so, it would be good to know of a source. I'm involved in a ship preservation and restoration society, ( , SS (ex FRV) Explorer and we're missing a few! :-) Iain Yes DC ..... the boat is half DC and half AC ........ at the moment worst of both worlds !!! I will find out where the motor has gone to for rewind and check out possible sources. ......... often though, you can get the motor but the starters are burnt to buxxxry just to add .... what sizes do you need ..... I will then keep my ear to the ground

Thanks for the links !
There's no immediate need, but it would only take one to die and something would stop working.
The originals were by WH Allan &sons, rated 5h.p. for the small pumps (drinking water, fuel transfer, salt water supply, etc.) A couple would be handy to restore drinking water supply to the officers' pantry and replace the fuel transfer pump one, which is down on power and speed.
