Hullo marni - sorry about the skeleton pic! And sorry to hear about your daughter. Whenever I empty the ash from the stove into the metal bucket I try to not breathe at all, as I have heard of 'silicosis' - when rock / silica gets into your lungs, it doesn't dissolve. Why don't boaters use masks like the Japanese? Ahh its fine I thought it was funny ..I know perhaps we need to use them thing the fire fighters have .

Japs use these all the time when they are 'ill' so that fellow passengers on the trains/subway/bus don't catch what you have. It's not so that "they don't catch what others have". Japs are too considerate. I think this is a recipe for disaster as we all need to be subject to germs 'of a certain annoyance' to keep our immune systems alert. I drive a school bus with filthy brats a-coughin' and a-sneezin' often, and I haven't been ill in over 4 years, I think moderate exposure to 'The Lurgie' has simply made me stronger. I think thats why kids are so ill all the time now,They are forever being washed and virtually sterelized to with in an inch of their lives

I recently read through a number of Dervla Murphy books. In one she describes the horror of an American guest who saw Dervla's baby daughter eating out of the dog's dinner bowl. 'That's OK', said Dervla - 'she's building up her immune system for our next travels'.

Ahh that would be fab.The Dr is sure it was caused by the fine dust particals off the fire Found it, here. thunderboat.boards.net/thread/753/coal-respiratory-problemsProbably worth a read. I was diagnosed with heart failure, then undiagnosed with heart failure after I reconditioned my stove and changed the coal I was burning.

The Witch's daughter has just flown back a few days into a FREE 3-week holiday in Thailand (courtesy of the taxpayer, ie. me) because she had a tummy upset and was sick. She didn't know what she had but wanted to come home back to 'safe Finland' - where the doctor told her she might have had 'food poisoning'. No shit, Sherlock?! I could be a doctor and go round telling everyone who has pain to 'take a pain killer'. Doctors in Finland are a joke (but an expensive one).
The doctor didn't suggest a blood test (she could have plague, dengue, rheumatic fever, ebola, cholera, typhoid). What a moron. Also - nothing quite like flying from Bangkok to Hong Kong and Helsinki with an unknown illness, and subjecting 300 other plane passengers to what it is you have.
She's 'OK' I hear - so if she had stayed in Thailand she could have enjoyed the last 2 weeks....? Snowflake society.

"Allowances"? It is straightforward sensibility. What else does innoculation do if not a refined form of the same principle? Laurens van der Post used to spend a fortnight before each expedition, eating his meals off the floor of his abode in the local vicinity, for precisely this purpose. I remember reading some decades ago, an article on the fatality stats of American soldiers compared to British soldiers in the Malaysian wars post WWII. The Brits were largely the street sweepings of the Glasgow slums; the Yanks were prime USA beef, raised according to the best sterilised nutrition. The Yanks dropped like flies in the disease ridden jungles; the Brits shrugged the conditions off as less severe than the deprived and disease-ridden circumstances they were accustomed to.

It was a cheap shot at the Irish. I have met a few Irish people and have been at awe at times with them - but I've always had my hand on my wallet at the same time.
Actually, I have had it in mind to visit Ireland (the western side). Perhaps sometime soon. It's this boat we got that has tied us to England (and Wales - if you can count Chirk & Llangollen as being in Wales).
I've read about the Irish helping James Graham in the 1640s in Scotland (against the Covenanters). Another nation betrayed unashamedly by their politicians. I have nothing against the Irish, so long as they don't tarmac our drive whilst we're away and then demand payment with menaces.

And Low, From the misty shallows of the Slough Arm there appeared the returning hero of many great battles with the evil foes of the good. Sorry to have been away folks. Been a bit busy with retiring from the filth and then working for Ocado for a bit, delivering much needed supplies to the poor and needy of Ascot and Virginia Water. Have now put my final retirement battle plan into operation by starting my own courier business doing same day deliveries nationwide although so far it seems mainly delivering to the south east....still waiting for the big money long distance orders. Anyone need anything moving?........I was also wondering if there is a market for delivering coal/fuels to boats by road? or even offer to do a 'pick up your shite box and empty it' service. No job too smelly or too small right, back to the recently updated tab. got a lot of catching up to do Welcome back😊.

I had never heard of it before I got it then I remembered ol Cheggers .The Drs defo think mine is caused by fine dust . It is quite a rare disease so not overly surprising you hadn't heard of it before, I certainly hadn't. I can't give any advice on the cause of your illness as your doctor is far more qualified than me - my following comments are what I have learnt about IPF so they may not be appropriate for your type of PF. If you are offered Pulmonary Rehabilitation (and if you are not ask why not!) take the opportunity. Not only does it help the physical side it also gives help with managing the 'psychological' side of the illness. Link here for more info - www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/keep-active/pulmonary-rehabilitation - Yes most other patients on the course will have COPD but that doesn't really matter. I can't offer much else other than to provide a link to IPF by the British Lung Foundation (check with your doctor about whether any of this is relevant help with your PF) - www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/idiopathic-pulmonary-fibrosis-ipfGood luck.
