That's yet another opinion Telemachus. Rog Are opinions not allowed on here? Absolutely they are. But you said you weren't expressing opinion. These sort of comments are the type of thing I hate most about forums. Someone describes an incident or occurence (example I'm having a new engine) which seems to trigger others into questioning, challenging, disputing the need (you should fix the old engine etc etc). Hey ho, obviously it's just me. Rog

on top of the obvious distress that the owners of this will have undergone, they will probably find that their insurance is invalid as well. Last I heard it went to Blackthorn Marina after these muppets recovered it They're a real comic turn, aren't they. I gave up trying to count how many of them there were to do something that didn't need more than a couple of hands with a bit of know-how. Wonder what they do in their regular day jobs ?

Doghouse seems to be struggling, so I will repeat.
I am not anti C&RT.
Jane and I, separately, are both contibutors as 'friends'.
But C&RT do get it wrong, I fear with increasing frequency as any water based knowledge is allowed to be lost.
I have no issue with opinions being expressed, however I find it insulting that some posters immediately take the view that the the poster may be not telling the truth, with no justification.

You dislike tales of woe being questioned, which is your right. However there seems little point in coming on here just to get the sycophants all bleating about how awful it all is, and SO UNFAIR! My position as an engineer is to try to find solutions to problems. In other words to suggest how kris might have handled it better by going direct to the regional EO. And of course to probe a bit about whether he was in fact acting reasonably (remembering that his idea of reasonable was to keep his boat static on the towpath whilst it underwent a major renovation lasting many months). Of course some people, and I suspect kris might fall into this category, quite like being hard done by. They enjoy the victim mentality, just like all those women whose lives are RUINED because some bloke looked at their cleavage. So I suppose that reluctantly I should just allow him to enjoy his outrage and not suggest any solutions. It goes against my grain though.

Rog Without Dog is the one actually struggling. I didn't say you were anti CRT - you are evidently making that up. As to your being friends ' well yes' so what? - as I haven't claimed you are anti CRT that is actually irrelevant and matterless in the context of our exchange. As to CRT getting it wrong - well yes you are either completely unable to read or you need a visit to the opticians but I have said the same more than once now. As for suggesting somebody is not telling the truth I tell you what, If somebody had asked me for further clarification about my location if I had made the opening post my response would have been along the lines of. 'Actually - I prefer not to give my exact location for reasons of privacy but I can confirm I was actually moored on a river section that was actually in flood so to leave the mooring would have been totally unsafe' if that was what applied. Alternatively 'I prefer not to give my exact location for reasons of privacy but I can confirm I was actually moored on a short section of canal hemmed in at both ends by a river in flood. It was therefore impossible to move off the sort canal section onto the river' However instead what we got was - Oh yes I see we have both Laural and hardy on this thread now. So when somebody is evasive in response to a simple question it simply leads to a belief that we are not being presented with all the facts.

Every word Telemachus and Doghouse have written implies their opinion in my view.
I have, I hope clearly, expressed mine.

Rog My opinion is we do not have all the facts, and therefore we are not in a position to condemn CRT's behaviour in this instance nor judge that Kris has been fairly or unfairly treated by them. You can (and no doubt will and actually obviously have) read into that what you like.

I find it insulting that some posters immediately take the view that the the poster may be not telling the truth, with no justification. Rog It’s not black and white about telling the truth or lying, it is shades of grey about which details to include and which to leave out. We get it all the time on technical queries, the most recent one was on the Skoda forum, a chap with a 2 year old Skoda pulled away hard, hit a pothole and all drive was lost, DSG gearbox making horrible clanking and grinding noises. After a page of responses, mostly telling him to call Skoda assist and get it repaired under warranty, he revealed that it had been in a bad accident and it had been an insurance right-off. So he hadn’t lied, but he had missed out a crucial bit of information and wasted a lot of peoples’ time.

Why do people have to make the assumption that kris is wrong and that C&RT are right. Because Kris always rewards a yank on his chain with some epic dummy-spitting.

Well I would expect you to say that Tony, and no doubt the 'one without Dog' liking it will be accompanied by others shortly. Given your history with CRT I would expect you to side with that opinion though.

Given your history with CRT I would expect you to side with that opinion though. What 'history' would that be then, Martin ? Would it be something to do with making them look like the goons they are, and leaving them saddled with around £14,000 of legal costs when their County Court Declaration/Injunction claim against me for 'overstaying' fell apart and they ended up whingeing to the Court that my actions and conduct had rendered their case - quote (from their Court papers) - "worthless and academic".
