It is essential to have boarding irons on a vessel. Not ironing boards but boarding irons.
Grapnels.
Anyway I decided to order some of these interesting little stainless steel grapnels from China. £2.10 each.
They are very impressive !!
Will add link

These. Look at this on eBay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302581449274They are small but very strong. I wouldn't climb a tree with one but they are ideal for grappling another boat with a view to looting and imprisoning the captain and crew. Aldo handy for pulling things out of the cut or as I do drawing floating wood to the boat for firewood. I put one on 3mm cord and can throw it about 40ft easily. Brilliant bit of kit (Photo nicked from the webnet - my hands are much much nicer than that !)

Got one I made earlier. About that size. Cos you never know when you need to board another boat. Mine is the battery free model, unlike the Boarding iRon, with AI.

That's about the size of the treble fishing hooks I use when out on the lumpy stuff.

On the Broads somebody saved my dinghy; caught it as it drifted downstream using his pike kit Some bright spark untied all the dinghies in the dinghy park and pushed them out into the stream .. I had to phone Chris to fetch me in her dinghy and on the way back to our mooring I spotted my dinghy tied up outside the pub. The marina manager managed to retrieve the rest of the dinghies the next day . Phil

That's about the size of the treble fishing hooks I use when out on the lumpy stuff. I spotted a Thames police grapnel in the museum of London Docklands which looked like a large treble with lead wrapped around the shank. I did some searching but found it awkward to locate them in englandland. They seem popular in the USA. Where do you get your large trebles and how much are they? These ones are very sharp. No barbs as they are not fish hooks. Planning to make a body drag with 4 of these in a row on a bar. Not that I find a lot of bodies but its a handy thing to have available.

I guess with your connections to MI6 or is it MI5?....Im not sure I know the difference .....anyway as I was saying before my train of thought hijacked me you never know when you will be called upon to search for a body in the cut......

It can and does happen in all walks of life. In my civilian "normal person" role I retrieved a body from the Thames some years ago when it floated past while I was having a cup of tea moored near Rumnymede on the Thames. I now call that mooring (which I really like as its a really handy mooring) the "body mooring". anyway I brought it to the side with the dinghy and boathook for the rozzers to have a look at.
In my professional capacity I have carried out dozens of corpse retrieval operations but I am not allowed to mention them here so I won't. Official secrets act and all that .
