The little Kubota on my new yot (Kubota B743) has a decompressor so I believe it may be possible to hand start it. But the only thing to get the handle onto is the end of the crankshaft and that's a splined shaft about 30mm diameter.
Is it possible to get a handle to fit this?
I've hand started the RN DM2 I had on a narrow boat (raised start with chain) a lister SR2 (raised with chain) and an SR1 generator with handle onto crankshaft. None of them had splines though.
I was just thinking of a backup in case of starter motor problems.
Maybe its not doable. Would need some sort of adapter and/or ratcheting arrangement I think.

Are you sure there's not anywhere else to put a starting handle ?

Are you sure there's not anywhere else to put a starting handle ? There isn't anywhere else. One of my generators has a small Kubota engine and that has a little starting handle dog on it but this one doesn't. I suspect that there was a raised chain driven hand start option which was not fitted to this engine. I received some photocopies of the manual so I guess a good look through those will help.

Yes maybe the decompressor is just to help with bleeding the injectors or for situations where the starter battery is shagged.

Is there room to spin a starting handle? Back in the day I've started numerous BMC B series car engines using one, but it would be physically impossible to start my engine using one.
