I'm thinking of fitting sound proofing around my in built generator when I fit the silencer. I've used any before so Wondering if something like this is any good. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252452795962

I'm interested in this as well.
Are you looking to make it quieter for people like Nick or is it for yourself?
I don't think it will make much difference to people walking past as the steel hull will do the job but if you are trying to reduce the impact on people in the cabin it may be worthwhile.
I think the proper stuff has a sheet of lead in it.
Maybe you could encase it in a concrete box

As I believe JohnV pointed out, you need to see if you have any cardboard boxes pre-filled with sound-deadening material lying around that you could stack around the generator.

I imagine it will help but just worth noting that ASAP sell pukka marine sound insulation and the make up is rather different with a layer of lead which acts to damp lower frequencies Phil

When I was looking for bits for the drive train, they told me my gearbox was no good and I needed to buy a new one. ( two years later it's still working fine) Then the prices they were charging where ridiculous. I went direct to the manufactures R&D in the end. Who where very helpful and cheaper.

But I'm not sure if it's going to be worth the extra expense and effort.

Density is where it's at, the denser the better.

I used it on every surface in my old camper, but over the top of heavy stuff. It will kind of deaden the sound without making it much quieter if that makes sense!
