Anyone got a good one that isn't a fire risk or a modified sine wave inverter with a sticker on it?
My mate is after an inverter, he's asking after and needs no more than 1500w no less than 1000w, a remote on/off control panel and a low price is the order of the day - I know, I know; moon on a stick and all that.
I kept telling him to get a Sterling PSW 1000w with RCD like I've got, dead easy to fit, good back up. Reasonable quality reliability and performance He's not keen on the £350 price tag. I'm not keen on recommending some unknown quantity off eBay. A heads up for something someone has actually lived with without regretting it would save considerable time and eliminate the luck element from a potential lemon off eBay.
It's a hobby boat (up yours Smelly!) So No real worry about 24/7/365 use. Being able to switch it on and off remotely is a must as it will be buried in a locker. Essential that it can be turned on/off by ANother from within the cabin.
Yours in not much hope.
Gazza.

Thanks for that, I can't see a connection for a remote nor a mention in the user manual - they usually use an RJ45 socket, I'll ping them an email just in case though.

Thanks John, I guess with the remote an RJ45 patch lead would do to extend it further than 3m, as long as all the pairs are there and you don't tell it it won't know any difference?!

Re remote control, there was mention of using a remote switch to control to control an led light bar, would they have the capacity to handle an Inverter?

Re photovoltaic universe stuff, my mppt controller has a WiFi unit to plug in, app on android phone, the app also has an inverter setting. Don't know if it has on/off, not sure how that would work to turn on again, unless inverter has a standby mode.

3 Votes for Sunshine Solar, thanks gents. I haven't heard back from Quaysiders recommendation yet - early days though! I'll forward the links on to my friend.

the one I bought did have a remote - but only with a 5 metre cable and when I questioned them about using a coupler to extend it, they said it wouldn't work - ergo, it's still in a box somewhere on the boat not fitted (you have to disconnect the on/off switch on the front before plugging it in at the rear)
Sunshine solar it is I'd say.
