I finally managed to restore the Dynastart of the silent GEKO diesel genny, new anchor, new bearings and new brushes.
Lots of swearing and puffing and a more than terrible backache, but it has been worth it, as it's running again.
Now the old American Trace Charger/inverter is doing it's job again, and the Mastervolt Mass 24/50 isn't as urgent anymore.
If I'm feeling up to it before I go to Belgium, I will remove the thing from the wall in the engineroom and take it with me to my sisters place to test it with Belgium Shore-power, and hope for the best.
At least the way things are now, I'm happier than I was a little while ago when the genny broke down.
The Kipor 2000 IG kept my batteries charged, far from ideal, but excellent as a back up.
Peter.

Sounds good Peter well done. Can't you just plug the errant battery charger into you diesel generator to see if it works.?

Maybe the generator output is not electronically regulated? Some electronic gear won't run on basic ~230v output without tight regulation. Not sure about chargers but washing machines are quite often a problem in this respect.
Mastervolt usually make quite heavy duty equipment but I don't think this unit will be much good as an anchor.

I've been away, visiting some bargee friends from the Netherlands that had been blocked for 1 month due to the water levels and the closed navigations. They should have emptied about 50 kms from where I am, but are emtied now only 30kms away, as in the section of the last 20 kms there still 1 lock under water. We celebrated the reborn Dynastart, and I must say that it was nice to leave the boat for a bit, and to see my friends again after 2.5 years. There are quite a few things to do before I can set off for Belgium, but I will try the charger later on today or tomorrow Kris, I'll keep my fingers crossed while doing that, but I'm not superstitious. Peter.

There's no lack of anchors on my boat that were purposely made for that job . Peter.

Well done Peter, now to have a little rest and recuperation. As I just wrote Dave, I did leave the boat for the rest of the afternoon, and came back just before midnight, I had a long lay in. Was awake at 6am, but stayed in bed lazying a bit more, mainly to give my bad back a better chance to recuperate. I did sleep again, I'd almost forgotten that feeling , as all these problems kept me awake worrying. Peter.
