I want to get hold of a big stainless fire extinguisher to use as a pressure tank for a paraffin burner. Someone has them on eBay for £15 but in Sheffield so too far away.
Other than nicking one from a shop or paying silly money are there any other strategies which could be employed to acquire one? Full or empty but if full preferably water as its cleaner.
Any tips appreciated.

Pay the postage you tight bugger. Not they say collection only for the one in Sheffield. I'd happily pay for postage if the total was £25 or something but if they don't want to post it...

These man and a van services can be quite reasonable.

Ask if they could be about for a collection service you pay for outside of eBay. All they would have to do is put it in a box and give you the dimensions and weight. www.myparceldelivery.com/UPS do a very cheap next day collection service. You could organise the payment your end and they give it boxed up to the driver. 10℅ cash back on Quidco too 👍🍻

I wonder if it would appear too rude to ask the seller to empty the thing !

Find a local fire extinguisher supply company, they bin loads of old ones that have become obsolete.
Does it have to be S/S ?

I was most miffed a couple of weeks ago, 2 "out of date" extinguishers replaced and taken away at annual service time. I could have used them in my sheds. Re emptying extinguishers, no harm in being cheeky, presumably you are after water based one with Schrader valve to pressurise. They make great flamethrowers. I organised delivery via Hermes for some stilts I bought. They collect and deliver.

I have already got a mild steel one with the Schrader valve. I use it for an air horn (LOUD) but will be probably testing the paraffin burner with it. Aim being to find a stainless one if it is the right thing for the job.

Put your boating blazer on, along with a faux toff accent, you'll come and go with ease.

You will need to dust the plus 4s down so they don't think you are an oddball walking around London with a stolen golfists bag.
