This is what the world is coming to, you dont want to send such emails in case you offend an innocent party, bollocks that is, if i get an email at work telling us all that our smoking breaks are such and such time and i know i stick to these times i delete the email and get on with my day, not moan and comp;lain that i am being targeted incorrectly... People need to man up a bit. To be clear I wasn't saying the innocent are correct to feel aggrieved, the problem is that some people will. Sorry, i wasnt pointing the finger at you, more the world today...

well it doesn't apply to us as we're already very considerate - I even chug off in the boat when I do an equalisation charge on the genny.
Everyone is hypersensitive here at the moment as they've just put up moorings by 10% I think it was... I'd already paid for this year and noticed it anyway - what with this "new" swing bridge (that no one wants), folk are a bit tetchy to say the least

The problem with 'scatter gun' emails like this is that they create bad feeling when people are not the offenders. Surely a more targeted approach aimed at actual offenders would be better, after all it's not too hard to identify them, pop down from CRT Towers and have a gentle word or leave a letter on a boat??? I would disagree young Martin. I normally send my staff a generic email if I need to stop a triviality etc. It doesn't address anyone in particular, but raises the issue "it's been noticed". If you're not the offender, then there's no problem, and no offence taken. If you are the offender, you might of been un-aware of the issue (but now you know), and are now aware there is an issue that needs to be addressed. The email that Quaysider received seems perfectly acceptable to me.

oddly enough - the main offender was chatting to me earlier and thinks it doesn't apply to THEM lol. We all know who it is - I hate all this "let's bollock everyone so no one gets offended" rubbish ... my last boss used to do it all the time - to save a fight with one person, bollock us ALL ... when he should have manned up and dealt with the problem at it's source

I was going to edit my post to include the word's of John Lydgate: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Have to agree with Quaysider.
If I need to speak to someone about a problem, I prefer to look them in the eye.
Speak the truth and fear no man, as my old Dad used to say.
If you're just gently raising things with every one, how does the actual 'culprit' know who they are?

I get my biggest knife out of the engine hole, put on my "deranged psychopath" look and explain what I want to happen differently in future.

It's probably someone like me then. Yes, I would stay away too!

Have to agree with Quaysider. If I need to speak to someone about a problem, I prefer to poke them in the eye with a red hot mooring pin.

When I was at secondary school I nicked a pack of 5.25" floppy discs as we had just got a new desktop computer at home and I wanted to play with it but had no floppies. The maths teacher said if he didn't get the discs back everyone in the class would get detention. I gave them back.
