Richard Parry is concerned about obesity and people eating at McDonalds and getting diabetes. Why doesn't he go and live with Jamie Oliver, or, study to become a doctor and work in the NHS?
Allan Leighton says "our customer base is 90% non-boaters."
"We really can save the country millions of Pounds on what it spends caring for people by instead getting people active, getting them out, helping them develop better mental health" - Richard Parry
Well, they do say laughter is the best medicine, and people have had a lot of laughs at the god-awful new logo! hahahaha! -That'll be £50, Thank You.
I mean, all this money to make a fancy video, yet there are no funds to fix one of the most important canal links in the country - the Middlewich Branch has still got a bleeding' great hole in it! Talk about "ironing your underpants whilst Rome burns".
I noticed they descended on Hebden Bridge for some of the filming - I hope they chased up all those un-licenced boats in Hebden Bridge!!

I think it represents a defective hearing aid as C&RT management appear totally unable to listen. Even the lock side staff we're meeting are saying management are spending money on all the wrong things. It is easy to lose all sense of proportion in the frustration of this kind of nonsense. However I am able to travel and enjoy the system, and receive great assistance and service from towpath staff, and we shouldn't forget this. Surely the king is going to realise very soon, that he's stark bollock naked. Try not to despair, as it'll be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end Rog (fingers crossed )

Surely the king is going to realise very soon, that he's stark bollock naked. Then he will rebrand as the Naturist Health Service ...

Now it's been let slip that the actual logo is what swallowed the 60k budget. They won't evidently be publishing the overall cost of the rebrand. Oh, and all the vans etc are gonna be wrapped.

The Broads Authority are doing a middling job going on their survey results.
Summary: Perceptions of the Broads Authority (PBOs, HBOs, Residents & Visitors) SATISFACTION Marked differences by audience: Visitors are highly satisfied (yet relatively uninformed/passive?) Residents are reasonably satisfied PBOs are reasonably satisfied, but around 1 in 6 are not HBOs are broadly neutral or dissatisfied PERCEPTIONS Perceptions of the Broads Authority are broadly positive amongst PBOs, Residents and Visitors HBOs express their dissatisfaction with descriptors such as ‘wasteful; bureaucratic; ineffective; average; uninformed; invisible; unrepresentative’ Perception management/communications might be considered in terms of support given to HBOs, financial management and transparency, consultation in terms of agenda setting/focus, consultation with the public UNDERSTANDING HBOs are highly likely to understand the purposes of the Broads Authority Residents & Visitors are much less clear in terms of their understanding IMPORTANCE Conservation is considered by far the most important purpose of the Broads Authority amongst all audiences, apart from HBOs, who consider the protecting of navigation as most important Broadly speaking, the Broads Authority is considered to meet its purposes regarding conservation, but less so regarding promoting opportunities and protecting the interest of navigation Summary: Tolls (PBOs & HBOs) FINANCIAL IMPACT Broads Authority tolls typically account for around 10% of annual boat ownership costs VALUE FOR MONEY PERCEPTIONS Whilst PBO perceptions of toll value for money are higher than HBOs, only half agree that they are good value for money HBOs have very low value for money perceptions about the toll VALUE FOR MONEY BY SIZE OF BOAT There is no clear/strong perception as to whether the toll is better value for money for different sizes of boat DIFFERING FROM PRIVATE BOAT TOLL Most PBOs, who felt able to give a view, correctly think that the hire boat toll varies from the toll paid by private boat owners (for an equivalent boat) (59% think it costs more, but 33% felt unable to give a view) HIRE BOAT MULTIPLIER The HBO multiplier is well supported amongst PBOs; typically due to it representing more use, hire boats causing more damage and HBOs profiting from use Support is markedly weaker amongst HBOs TOLL INCOME EXPENDITURE Half of PBOs and HBOs would like more spent on dredging and/or mooring maintenance Half of HBOs (48%) would also like more to be spent on patrolling and safety – notably higher than PBOs (33%)
Much more on an interesting document I will add a link to another time.
The EA have dropped the ball this year on the Nene, will see how the MLC are doing this weekend.
CART thankfully are beyond my sphere of experience in the recent past 👍🍻🚢

Good Lord !!! a navigation authority giving a clear, understandable and un-hyped result of consultations ....... what is the world coming to !!! They asked plenty of broad ranging questions from a reasonably wide group of 'stakeholders' and users. It's a three year old survey mind. drive.google.com/file/d/1iX4cquM0wc_WTq0gzaRjLhyKHmsX9t0X/view?usp=drivesdkmouse is better positioned to comment on the BA, but overall (and forgetting the national park nonsense) they don't do a bad job. The Broads Beat is certainly worth having too. The Middle Level Commissioners need pointing in the right direction legislative but they do generally keep a good navigation with mostly sensible bylaws and guidelines. CART seem to be going to Hell in a handcart.

Try not to despair, as it'll be alright in the end, and if it's not alright, it's not the end Rog (fingers crossed ) Some may have defective hearing aids, but I've heard saying that by the medical test the staff of C&RT have to pass, the doctor looks in one ears, to make sure that he can see straight through, and look at the outside world through the other ear.
Because of that (what normally would count as a severe handicap) they can get rapidly high up the staff ladder of C&RT.
If they have holes in their hands to let huge quantities money slip through, that will be a bonus, and gives them an even better chance to be employed.
The last test is the lie-detector, if that bloody thing is screaming-and almost exploding because it can't handle the amount of lies, they are the new champions of C&RT.
Peter.
