Quick update, Chris managed to escape Addenbrookes after 2 1/2 weeks.Initial results of kidney biopsies was OK but a more intensive investigation is on going. It seems kidneys are not working quite as they should. The docs have managed to reduce her lymph load by a massive 1kg a day! We have been able to carry this on at home via medication (she is shrinking before my eyes) Boat is sold to a Aussie girl and money shoulď be in our account Monday. Now homeless but wheels are grinding so fingers crossed as we have 4 weeks grace Phil

Worth reading up about kidney disease problems and when to react fast (if you havn't already been told what signs to watch for), in my experience with my wife it gets complicated for the NHS doctors that do not have time to read through all the notes and therefore can miss the kidney problem whilst trying to deal with the immediate problem - most notable in A&E but not exclusively so. PM me if you want some pointers to resources to read plus some details of when the doctors missed the kidney problem and how we refocused their thoughts... My wife had a kidney transplant some 10-15 years before we married so I did learn a fair bit about when to react or not, mostly after she fell ill with another disease.

People have been so kind and supportive both here and on the Marina. One chap who works for Mercedes told if I need a hand and van he could help out as he has a car park full of vans. And thank you so much for the offer of help Ross. I am determined to remain a Thunder boater Phil

Blimey, Phil. Only just caught up here. Mrs Loafer and I are terribly upset by this news. We are very pleased though, that you are going to remain a Thunderboater. I can only imagine your sorrow. Wish Mrs Phil our greatest wishes old boy.

Further update, we have been offered a.......Almshouse!!! only a mile from the Marina so I got my wish about staying in the area. It is in the process of being gutted and completely refurbished, new double glazing, carpets, kitchen and wet room. It's a one bedroom bungalow and having had a quick look it's just like a new build. So in short all is looking good at the moment, just need Chris to get back to full health which would be the icing on the cake. Of course Chris is like a dog with 2 tails as she has to oversee furnishing it all and will get a reclining sofa which will aid her recovery as elevating her legs as much as possible is required Phil
