Today I had a lovely chat on the phone with a lady who's been following the blog and wondered just HOW much cooking she'd be expected to do...
I've referred her to Patty!
ANYWAY - she's just booked for her and her husband for NEXT year and that's our 2nd booking for 2019 already... REALLY chuffed with that.
Meanwhile, the new owner of Duke and Duchess grabbed hold of my hand the day before yesterday and introduced himself - really friendly chap (at a swing bridge).
The "proper" hotel boats are not threatened or hostile at all which REALLY is wonderful... there's room for us all!
In other news, We've created 2 5 day trips from Manchester to Liverpool Docks when we go in and out in July - fingers crossed we'll get some takers for those as Wakefield to Mancs on the Rochdale hasn't attracted any interest (as of yet)...

I'm going to book a week on Ellis next year. I'm not going to shower all week, or the week before I arrive and my sole topic of conversation will be my kokkinomallisophobia.

REALLY chuffed with that. Mark, are you the person Stabbs keeps referring too, when he says he knows someone who got hit by a steam train once?

Wow, nobody wants to go on holiday to Miles Platting, Newton Heath or Failsworth? Who'd a thunk it!

If you are travelling on the Rochdale Canal through Newton Heath then it is essential to have a large knife and a murderous attitude. I had all sorts of problems there and it's not as if the local youth had any reason to hate me because I'm not even ginger.
Albert Pierrepoint lived in Newton Heath for many years so randomly killing strangers is obviously a local speciality. My advice is simply "Don't go there".

If the bookings are coming in for next year already, it's maybe time to prepare a second boat, as this is looking like a intimate holiday that some people are looking for, possibly because they don't want to be part of a group on one of the "real" hotel boats.
Peter.

I'm thinking of starting a similar thing, although to avoid it becoming a commercial arrangement with all the aggro that entails, I was offering free holidays to ladies prepared to do the cooking and cleaning.
