I performed the world's greatest narrow boat reversing maneuver years ago at braunston turn. It was amazing even by my standards nut nobody was watching.

John, is the main channel now between Reeds Island and South Ferriby lock? The last time I was on the Humber it was the other side of the island.

No it is still to the North of the island. Most of the North side of the island has disappeared and the eastern dry land end of the island, now finishes just to the west of South Ferriby. (the drying out tail of the island still is to the east of S. Ferriby) The south channel behind the island is now unnavigable which makes for some serious back eddies when trying to access the Ancholme ....... I was trying to post a picture of part of the ABP monthly chart but I can't work out how to do it ..... sorry

actually he is reversing faster than the flood although that does assist. He has a fish tail rudder as well which gives him a tiny bit more control but no girly button

Yesterday did the final leg to the drydock. Had a very busy morning playing tug boats (separate thread) then back to Sabina. Left the Old Harbour just before the top of the tide single handing and followed Selby Doris also single handing, up through the next two bridges (well three if you count the permanently open one) Then hung about waiting, while they got Selby Doris into the dock and the gates partly closed and then moored up outside with all the work boats outside of me. Low tide in the Old Harbour looking across at the museum trawler "Arctic Corsair" SAM_1736 by mudlarker2, on Flickr didn't get any photos of the moving off nor of the Maureen Eva passing me as I was too busy winding the wheel backwards and forwards Looking back at Drypool Bridge after having just got through SAM_1759 by mudlarker2, on Flickr Lurking below North Street Bridge waiting for it to open SAM_1760 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_1762 by mudlarker2, on Flickr Finally tied up outside dock gates with all the "ducklings" clustered around SAM_1763 by mudlarker2, on Flickr Further up the river you can see the "Sarah D" moored on the outside of the Swinderby, she's a very big tug/workboat with a large piling crane on it's fore deck. It's busy with the new flood defences being installed in Hull Just an edit to say I was mistaken about the "Sarah D" being on the outside of the "Swinderby" ..... it's actually the "Paragon" ...... I learnt this just now as the ""Swinderby has just turned up and moored there as well !!!

Since you left your mud berth to which you were almost banned to stay forever by all the bad news of the past, you seem to be at spots where it's all happening now, which gives you the opportunity to supply us picture hungry barge lovers with a regular ration of these.
Many thanks for these photos John,
Peter.

I hate the pictures. However for the sake of others who may like to look at them I would suggest that its worth posting more. Even if I don't look at them. which I won't.
