I think it's YouTube's way of proving value to the advertiser because I don't believe you pay anything for the advert if it's skipped. Many lame YouTube videos have titles which are deliberately exaggerated and confrontational to get people to click on them. Surely we’ve got better things to do with our lives?.... Meanwhile the canal system gets worse every year for boaters. I’m getting too embarrassed now to report issues to CRT. Whilst everyone is glued to a screen, that’s their life, so I guess it won’t matter if the canal system falls apart. Yep, clickbait they call it. Skipping the advert at the 5 second point means the advertiser doesn't pay anything and therefore the poster of the video doesn't get paid either. I was a little hungover this morning so decided not to cruise and after doing some work watched a series called unfinished London by Jay Foreman, one of the decent YouTube channels.

I doubt that, do you think people will vote for taking money from the NHS and giving it to cart? The waterways should be funded in its own right, because of the water drainage function. Let alone the navigation. If you took the goverment grant as is, plus the boat revenue and the money from rents and the wayerways are sustainable in a reasonable state. But you have to get rid of the top heavy managment structure. Talking about drainage is pretty dodgy. How are you going to keep water in summit pounds? Summit has to be done. I know back pumping is the solution but if you are specifically aiming for funding for land drainage then you will get an unusable canal system pretty quickly. Carts waterways are already part of the water drainage network of this country.

The latest TV Facebook advert is trying to promote an image of not allowing click bait. The whole bloody thing IS click bait. Yes, there is some interesting stuff on YouTube and TV (occasionally). The hard bit is learning to manage time wisely when we are surrounded by the onslaught of bait. Cod, it’s a nightmare, too many red herrings. You have to be a dab hand at avoiding being done over like a kipper these days...
