I just found this picture of Martin on holiday. That can't be us, the 'vans are far too posh and nowhere near as close to each other as we normally are.

What on earth are you talking about? Your qualification as an ameture Psychology has rather let you down I'm afraid Kris. Or did you just want to find a way to shoehorn your fixation with my caravan into a post - again. Sad. Do you honestly not realise just how pathetic that series of posts reads? Particularly Tony D's 'afterbirth' reference, how old are you all, ten? Ok, Who's going to tell him that ameture is actually spelt............. amateur You missed one.....you amateur.

Oy you lot knock it off!! I have seen Martins boat on many occasions when it was moored up north, it looked ok a bit faded [its red shit happens] but always looked clean. I have been past and it wasnt there which means it was being used all good in boating terms. We all love our boats and me I have a camper as well so a foot in both camps.

Fair play to you lot (including Martin), it's taken my mind of my sciatica at least, you lot are funny as f@%k. I think the camper will be the next step for me whenever that happens. It's not ideal but I guess we all have to compromise eventually.

Ive often considered a camper but then when I used to have a tourer I used to watch them on site and having to pack away everytime you wanted to nip off down the curry house seems a right pain. I see some campers actually tow a small car behind them which kind of defeats the point of not having a proper tourer IMO.
I will get another tourer when I finally retire, The Memsahib wants a Static for some strange reason but im sure I manage to convince her otherwise.....i hope :/

couple of times over the years I've tried towing a tourer but never was too impressed, (only reason for the second time was because it was tendered in payment of a debt and the wife wanted to give it a go) borrowed a friends camper van a couple of times, for a holiday, but again didn't grab me ....... I'm happy on a boat and when I'm too decrepit for that, I'll be too decrepit to drive anyway

My Chevy Astro does multiple things its a car that holds five and a huge amount of luggage!! or its van which went to blackpool this weekend to pick up a big bath [ebay bargain] its a camper the rear seat is a three way electric bed it has a sink and a 1 ring burner, tv, radio, pull out awning, etc and because its an American vehicle I can still go to those shows. I fitted a solar panel on the roof for its 2 leisure batteries as well as the split charging system. Performance wise its 4.3 V6 is adequate and as its on LPG its cheap and very clean to run. Its also very comfortable with its big leather electric seats, aircon, cruise control etc etc. Having had tourers in the past I find them hard work, slow, difficult to get into small places just to much effort really, and I had powerful cars to pull them, Rolls Royce silver shadow 2 and a 66 ford Galaxie convertible. So I went down the day van plus way but its horses for courses isnt it

Just place it with precision using a remote control motor mover. Simple.

Have watched a few chaps use them though and they do look attractive. When i've used the van on my own the only real problem was reversing the car up to the van in order to hitch up, I used to put an awning pole in the ground at the spot where I needed the tow bar to be, so when i reversed knocked the pole over...bingo!
