Why the hurry to fix this, and not the hole in the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union?
Is it because the wealthy old fossils are miffed their bowls ground is a bit soggy? Claims for flooded cellars on the horizon like a fast approaching thunderstorm?

I'm not convinced in this particular case as it does not look like somewhere one would moor but it does seem possible that at some stage someone had been moored there and run their engine in gear while stationary. Stupid thing to do but fairly common and I'm sure it is very damaging to the canal banks. It could easily be what caused the big breach on the middlewich branch.

A knob who moored on the far side of the basin used to run in gear and pretend he didn't know it was turning his prop. The bank by my boat was washing away nicely and the water was loaded with mud and he couldn't see it...Twat The reason for running in gear? he didn't like the weed that grew around his finger mooring so he sent it off to everybody else.....Twat
