What about more benches for all the new visitors. That might improve their well being. So would having drug dealers at every lock... they are going to explode with happiness anyway

I noticed on the most recent boater's update, that C&RT are pushing how much they've spent on maintenance. I took this as an indication that C&RT have at least heard the complaints being voiced, and are 'fighting back'. But of course, shouting that Β£125 million has been committed to maintenance means nothing if that sum is less than a quarter of the available budget. You are spot on kris. If a proportion of the available funds is being targeted at 'canal users' other than boaters (the relaunch budget as a minimum, and hands up all those who STILL believe it's Β£60,000) then appropriate facilities SHOULD be provided and financed. My hope is that C&RT will hear the criticisms of their management, and seek to fight back by correcting their oversights/neglect with a flurry of maintenance spending over the next 12/18 months. Well, I did say it was my hope Rog CRT spends three times more money on company cars than they do on dredging .

There is a limited pot of money. I would prefer it to be spent on stuff to make the canals better for boaters, rather than on facilities for walkers and fishermen. Foxy likes this. Dogless likes this. Even Jenlyn likes this - god help me! In fact everyone on TB likes this. Have one from me ππ»π’

As a public βaccountableβ βcharityβ where are the breakdowns for the accounts? I suppose we could put in a FOI request , but it seems these days, they either get refused due to being βvexatiousβ or you end up being threatened with harassment (both ways!).

Which all goes to prove that we donβt need protection from βfake newsβ because we can work it out for ourselves. (well done Matty)

welll this maybe normal but a first for me. just east of pewsy was a welcome station in a completely random place. I presume the widebeams are fundraisers and sign up freinds on the towpaths wherever they moor.

thanks very much for the link, I'm not sure it was worth reading though. First @loddon with me water meter and now Jim with his pudding baiting In both cases it wasn't worth my data!
