I noticed they mentioned mould but they also said no swans were killed by bread so presumably the mould makes no difference.

I never stopped feeding them bread, simply because i thought it was a load of bollocks.
I did try peas and rice once but they looked at me like i had tried to touch them inappropriately.

"The driving force behind this campaign works for Pets Choice and was quoted as saying βlooks afterβ a brand called Wild Things which manufactures swan and duck pellets."
How surprising.
Is the writer of the article a Hovis shareholder?

I never stopped feeding them bread, simply because i thought it was a load of bollocks. I did try peas and rice once but they looked at me like i had tried to touch them inabreadriately. Jane did exactly the same, with exactly the same result. I buy white bread purely for fishing, and feeding to wildfowl and have never stopped doing so. My sainted old Mum and Dad used to take us kids to feed stale bread to the ducks on a mucky stream in Bolton-on-Dearne in the late fifties and early sixties. A cheap day out which we all loved. Rog

I saw a couple with small kids and the mum said "oh look ducks" so they threw bread at the birds.
They were coots. Ignorant plebs !

I strongly object to that term being coupled with ignorant and used as an insult. being of plebian ancestry I am mortified by that remark and believe you should be thoroughly castigated with a blunt castigator

The first word is detachable from the second word. Being a pleb does not automatically mean ignorance. Some plebs are very knowledgeable.
These particular plebs did not know the difference between a duck and a coot. They probably didn't even know that coots are birds not water fowl.
Apologies if I appear plebist. I am not a plebist. But

I believe water fowl are birds. Coots are birds. Ducks are fowl. Their feet are different coots do not have fully webbed feet ducks do. Coot young are called Chicks duck young are called Ducklings. Its just the way it is. Eta I realise you can call a duck a bird but coots and ducks are completely different creatures in terms of their origins and habits.

Organic artisanal wholemeal seeded unsliced home made /feeding-white-bread-to-wild-birds-is-killing-them/ Yes. You first have to thaw out the loaf and remove the individual slices. Lobbing the whole thing at the birds straight from the freezer is definitely harmful.

What I would agree with is not feeding them with mouldy bread. Who knows it might be the mould which causes problems I suppose bread soaked in Novichok is out of the question then.
