That seems very likely. It would be interesting to see what happens to the less attractive sites I wonder if there will be any "boater buyout" type arrangements at some point. Boater buyouts that's something I hadn't thought about, I suppose if you sold it off like that it would return a quick profit. The point is that any company that buys bwml will be doing it to turn a profit, so anything could happen.

Tingdene don't have the sufficient funding or backing needed to buy BWML as a whole.

I think they might have problems selling it as a whole. I would have thought one of the other big marina operaters would be the most likely buyers.

I doubt any other marina business could find the funding to take over BWML as a whole. Tingdene is one of the biggest, but has not been doing well since 2015. It will probably go to a hedge fund as suggested, or as you state, get broken up. If a hedge fund buys it, then it will be broken up and sold by them anyway.

If a hedge fund do but it, then the only thing they will see value in is the real estate. Not the boaters floating over it.

a seasoned boater who had a barge in Limehouse (now in France) suggested to me that more valuable marinas like limehouse could provide a decent income if filled with luxury static houseboats or as my mum used to call them "bonking boxes"
I think there is something in that. People will pay close to land rent for floating boxes and they'd make a killing doing online b&b etc.
I've often wondered why CRT don't just rent their own boats out on their resi sites.

Another interesting thought, if a hedge fund buy them, what's to stop them filling them in and building houses on them if they see there's more profit in that. That was the fate of Hertford bus garage where I worked 1986-1989. Closed down, cheaply-built cheap-quality rip-the-buyers-off brick boxes slung up on the site. My old workplace, although photo taken before my time. Those Green Line coaches used to do the 735 to Oxford Street, the 798 Cambridge to Victoria, and the 724 Harlow/Stansted to Heathrow.

Having thought about this, I think it is a crime that cart are selling bwml, because these are exactly the kind of assets (pretty much galenteed income) that some kind of grass routes take over a f the waterways would need to be able ensure the survival of the waterways.
